Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

PHC's

One by one, my teammates are putting their two weeks in, others are looking. Now, I haven't seen ads for PHC's (without social service licenses) in a long, long time. So eventually, unless they hire to replace us, which they are not doing and have not been doing, teams will continue to diminish, fewer coaches will be needed.

Are coaches worried? If you are a PHC, are you looking elsewhere yet or trying a wait and see approach? Does anyone have any insight as to hiring plans - are they done replacing PHC's who leave?

Uggh. I shouldn't admit this, but I'm getting to a point where I hope they just lay me off. I'm job hunting, miserable with this PHC role.

I highly doubt they would rebrand/rename the merging groups just to scrap the whole thing and let go of everyone. That is costly to the company. However, with that being said, they may feel they don't need as many PHCs with the merger due to no new enrollments. They may pare the numbers down a bit more. I do know they are planning on moving ahead with Live Healthy as my coach has talked about some new things they may do...no real details she just talked about it last week. It's all a crap shoot! My personal moto is, Don't worry about what I can't control or change. A!I I can do is be proactive : look for a more stable job/company, save my vacation time for payout, and squirrel away some extra cash. And pray I can find a job that pays as well!

25th? Of July? It makes no sense to do Live Healthy training and rebranding only to dismantle us, does it? Am I missing something?

It's a joke job. From the beginning we are high paid telemarketers who annoy people all day. The coach that I have is nasty n rarely available. My friend told me today that her coach told her by the 25th there will be more phc layoffs they are no longer needed. Jobs, are hard to find at this rate of pay. I wish they told the truth from the beginning about this job. Field work is far less stressful...

If that is the case why don't they just say so? I believe u may be right . I believe cms wants licensed professionals managing members

I don't think it's so much CMS reimbursement but what CMS is now requiring. I am an unlicensed PHC who just interviewed at a competing insurance company and was told that I would need RN or SW licensure in order to work there because of CMS requirements. I am wondering if CMS has said that the members must be managed by license staff and that is why they are only hiring nurses.

Are CMS reimbursement rates that high that Humana would come out ahead of break even if they replaced PHCs with LCSWs or RNs? Considering the average HCM makes $68000 a year and the average PHC makes $45000, that's a pretty big difference! Aren't there over 500 of us PHCs in At Risk and Stay Healthy? They would have to pay licensed workers more than non just to attract them.

Cert in care management really means nothing unless you are also licensed in other areas like nursing or social work....its just an add on but not gking to help uou for the most part in jobs regulated by medicare and medicaid

Do you all know that you can become certified in case management? As long as you have a degree and on the job experience as a case manager, you can go through the certification process. Look it up. https://ccmcertification.org/get-certified/certification

I'm glad to hear you found other employment. I'm a PHC and I agree there will be no place for unlicensed PHC's or anyone except customer care or CHE'S. I continue to look for work with similar money but it's hard. I have a masters degree but not licensed in anything.

I am an unlicensed PHC with a bachelor's in social work. Monday I am giving my 2 weeks. I have been hired elsewhere and will be doing actual case management, not customer service as the PHC role feels at times and listening to people yell at me because they hate Humana and we're a terrible company. I have been looking for work since the first round of layoffs in February. With the most recent meeting about 2.0 my confidence in them keeping around unlicensed PHC dropped to about -0. I really hope you all can find other work. Don't wait until you're laid off or find out they won't need you next year.

My team is jumping ship FAST as well. I don't see how they are going to keep all of the coaches if they are not hiring to replace, which they are not. If any of us make it to 2018, they are going to need to combine smaller teams again, unless they see value in having one manager for fewer than 9 or 10 employees.

I've never worked for a company with such a small manager to direct report ratio as it is, not sure how it could get much smaller and be sustainable.

I'm feeling like 2018 is not going to include unlicensed PHC's, based on no rehire for attrition, the 2017 layoff pattern, the advertising of the HAH team as "licensed," and the fact that we haven't enrolled new members in months.

Also, when it was clarified that 2.0 would have PHC's and non-nursing staff, it was never specified that unlicensed PHC's would play a part long-term. Non-nursing staff could easily refer to those with social work credentials. It doesn't look good.

Everyone I talk to is looking for something else, and slowly but surely they are putting in notice (actually, not so slowly anymore, we had 3 leave in June alone).

I'm a PHC and I'm actively looking for another job. I just don't feel comfortable with all of the smoke screens with in the company. I like working for Humana but I truly hate my role as a PHC. I don't like being confined to a phone all day and micromanaged. You may think why did you apply for this job, I didn't. I moved into this position after my previous position role requirements changed and I strongly believe this will happen with the PHC's as well.
