Was told yesterday that we will be getting trucks with all merchandise on pallets rather than being loosely packed on the truck. Basically, it will take 10 minutes to unload six or seven pallets versus the 1-2 hours it takes to unload the "regular" way.
Considering how unorganized 400-500 loose boxes can be on our trucks, this sounds a lot easier to deal with. However, I'm wondering if there is something bigger beyond this new process, like the "Simple Store" concept frequently discussed on here.
What does this translate to, if anything? A cut in hours for backroom? Layoffs and shifting the workload on remaining employees? A store closure?
