Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anyone know of the changes in the way Sears stores handle RRC trucks?

Was told yesterday that we will be getting trucks with all merchandise on pallets rather than being loosely packed on the truck. Basically, it will take 10 minutes to unload six or seven pallets versus the 1-2 hours it takes to unload the "regular" way.

Considering how unorganized 400-500 loose boxes can be on our trucks, this sounds a lot easier to deal with. However, I'm wondering if there is something bigger beyond this new process, like the "Simple Store" concept frequently discussed on here.

What does this translate to, if anything? A cut in hours for backroom? Layoffs and shifting the workload on remaining employees? A store closure?

When I first started working at Sears, each department used to open their own stock anyway and put up the excess in the back. Receiving just unloaded boxes onto the carts but the exception was clothing, which had to have the plastic removed and then hung. Most of the times receiving is only busy on truck days or weekends when we have big holiday sales . Other than that it's web orders or just waiting for package pickup.

So does the "door to the floor" mean the boxes of clothing get opened on the floor? Today our back room team received clothing all in boxes, many many boxes.

Also when Levi's comes in who will put ink tags on?

I'm sorry but we need our back room people to unpack and organize what comes out of the boxes in order for them to be taken to the floor in an organized manner otherwise it will be chaos

And it's not just clothing.. they do a great job at my store separating stuff for the divisions

Yes its called door to floor .... right from the truck straight to the floor nothing will come back it must all be put on the floor if the hooks are full you have to use clip strips ... so pan o grams are almost a thing of the past we will look like dollar general
