Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Managers at Honeywell not doing their jobs

Managers now appear to be more like HR people. Dont get too involved in the process, issues or technology, to avoid getting any blame when things dont go as expected. Just delegate everything and monitor your people. If something is late or there are complaints, blame the worker. All issues are people issues now, dont have to understand how things work. And if things are going ok, then must be easy and possible area to cut.

You hit the nail on the head, @OjTLAUi-tcz. Managers have given up on actually doing anything useful. They are just ensuring they keep their jobs over the backs of other employees. Nothing is ever their fault, and everything positive that happens they take credit for. It's infuriating.

I was the one that posted mangers should manage. And they have to be able to do that with a global footprint. I'd be the first one to say not all can do that. It is surprising that action at that level never seems to happen.

I also agree with having way too many directors wothout having people. Many don't even have a basic understanding of our systems and how they interact. But, this is a way for them to gat on a contract with more money and benefits.

Totally top heavy.

Have to agree that there are WAY too many directors with no one under them. In my opinion, those are the first positions that need to go.

HOS directors? OD directors? Op Ex Directors?

Please, please, please...get rid of this waste quickly.

The problem is there are too many layers of management and too many managers who don't manage anything. They have 0 people under them. Same problem with directors.

How can a "manager" in Kansas effectively manage a worker in Phoenix, as 1 example of something that went wrong. Does that manager need to have any inkling of how things work in Phoenix, the hand offs what the parts look like? How can that person help break things free? Just send me the 4 block chart.

You do realize that a managers job is to MANAGE. That does include people. And the team I am on needs that. Not all need it but there sure are times it is required.

They are not smart enough to realize that their best people are the ones that make them look useful, as they can lie about who their best and worst people are, because it isn't their money or business that they are mismanaging.
