Managers now appear to be more like HR people. Dont get too involved in the process, issues or technology, to avoid getting any blame when things dont go as expected. Just delegate everything and monitor your people. If something is late or there are complaints, blame the worker. All issues are people issues now, dont have to understand how things work. And if things are going ok, then must be easy and possible area to cut.
You hit the nail on the head, @OjTLAUi-tcz. Managers have given up on actually doing anything useful. They are just ensuring they keep their jobs over the backs of other employees. Nothing is ever their fault, and everything positive that happens they take credit for. It's infuriating.
