Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Age discrimination part of MH agenda! Oracle Layoffs are based on age.

If you are over 40 at Oracle, pack your bags you will be sacked eventually. MH has made no secret he has no love for the older generation. College kids are cheaper and that's what he wants... cheap labor. It was even mentioned in the all hands meeting. It has been his strategy for years. Hire young and cheap and replace the older generation.

His own interviews show this time and time again in public, inside the company, he shouting it fromthe roof tops. We hire young, not old. Its our strategy. Its also age discrimination.

Direct quotes on age discrimination:

MH Quote: "We’re hiring from the college because we think this will be materially more successful. "

What do you do with the older people? Lay them off. Looking at the demographics from the last layoff. Who is getting let go? How many people under 30 were let go regardless of performance?

MH Quote: "We are going against the grain and against the data that tells me we’re going to fail. But get this: you’ll hear companies say: “We’re going to hire the best people.” This is such nonsense."

So why is MH hiring young?

MH Quote: "So in the next five years it looks like we’ll have a healthy economy, a healthy pool of people but not enough skills. Why is this? Because 60 percent of millennials leave a job in under three years, This is really bad news for us at Oracle as we take a lot of college recruits. This is the first generation in the history of America that hasn’t said it wants a better life than its parents. It wants more flexibility. It’s going to be a different sets of things and fundamentally people who are less loyal. This is really bad news."

So less skills and less loyalty is what MH wants? Yes. Only a few things come to mind. College kids are cheaper = cost savings. Less skills are OK. Why are skills not valued? Old technology does not equal cloud. We can train the less skilled. But why let go the old skills?

Only one reason, age discrimination. MH does not like people over 40. They cost more and they complain. Oh yeah.... and they are smart enough sue Oracle for age discrimination.

Go to the CA Attorney General! Much less expensive for you if they conduct the investigation and sue oracle, then you can follow with a private lawsuit based on their lawsuit

I would suggest you CA based people reach out to www.sanfordheisler.com. This is the law firm handling the Oracle Class Action lawsuit related to Oracle not paying sales people earned commissions . Good luck!

I don't think this has anything to do with "Americans companies learnt this dirty trick from Indian outsourcing companies." This has been going on forever but more so in High Tech where the technology advances rapidly so one's current talents become obsolete very fast unless either companies re-train you or the engineer takes the initiative and makes time to re-train one own self.

Younger (almost new hires) engineers get paid as much or in some cases even more than the senior/experienced engineers, however, some of the younger ones are willing to work 24/7 without complaining hence the High Tech companies push out the older engineers to make room for the younger fresh blood.

Ultimately it comes down to demand and supply, costs, profit margins, absolute profits and stock price.

Not condoning the age discrimination in way at all or making light of people / families and lives getting affected but that's the unfortunate reality, more so in High Tech, Manufacturing, etc.

Only industries where experience is a plus and valued more as one ages is Health care, politics, congress and government.

Young folks don't have the life experience to know when they are being taken advantage of. Older people do. Companies know this.

Americans copanies learnt this dirty trick from Indian outsourcing companies.

Now a large drive is going on in all IT companies in Indian to fire employees who are aged forty and above. (TCS< Infosys, Tech mahindra, wipro, syntel, HCL) In the name of cost optimization.

Yeah, this age thing is BS.

They are paying the young pretty penny to join up . And, not everyone over 40 is overpaid .

@OsSxAME-ijz ... So if college kids are not cheaper MH just hates old people. He'd rather pay a less skilled less loyal worker because they are simply younger.

You say they're hiring college kids to save money but in my group the only college kids they hire are from Ivy League and these kiddos start at 6-figure salaries plus a ton of stocks.
