SHC announced today as part of their ongoing transformation to "right size" the company, they have made the difficult decision to continue to find ways to cut expenses. Effective August 6th and going forward the following "convenience" items will no longer be provided for employees.
-
All existing restrooms will be converted to port a potties without running water.
-
Toilet paper will no longer be provided. Associates should bring themselves a supply from home.
-
Heating for the stores will only be provided during the summer months and AC only during the winter months.
-
Associates will need to bring flashlights to work, as lighting will no longer be provided. (Exception, 10 pilot stores will experiment with the use of fireflies as an alternative lighting source)
-
Associates who run register will be required to bring a fully charges iPad for each shift as our current registers are not capable of performing transactions without electrical power.
-
Electric wheelchairs will no longer be provided.
We are quite confident that with the $10B in expense savings this will provide as well as continued labor cuts in the stores, SHC will be able to hire several more executives with little effect on the company's profitability.
