I didn't go looking for nike, they recruited me. In all they spent almost $ 150,000 in hiring me and laying me off. In my 5 years there I was not able to change the direction of this ill fated voyage once!
My bosses constantly changed. Almost half the time I didn't have a boss. My reviews were dismal because I wasn't aligned with the right position and boss. I once asked the question "Why did you even bother to hire me if you won't let me do my job" and was told they had a slot to fill and if they didn't hire they would lose that position.
At one point this year I didn't come to work for 2 weeks. No one noticed. I would typically arrive around 9 and leave around 3 with a lunch in between. I'm not lazy - I love to work hard and take pride in it. Unfortunately, there are only so many days one can sit in an office with nothing to do before you give up.
In all I figure nike spent a million dollars on me and got nothing in return. Again, I'm not lazy. The atmosphere is almost cult like and toxic with those damn maxims and their related awards plus CFE's. They couldn't be any further from approaching their maxims if they tried. Most of my bosses were idiots and would fall in line behind any corporate idea - good or bad.
When I started I invested heavily with my own money in the stock. I continued to do so until last year thinking my situation wasn't representative of the company as a whole. Now I'm rethinking that position and I no longer have any money invested in nike stock.
Despite all the bragging about their supply chain expertise, from my lens it appeared to be completely f'd. Hell I couldn't even get an $ 100 order with multiple items in one shipment from the same DC. This happened on every order I placed! I've heard nothing but horror stories about inventory management and shipping.
The greater Portland area has no respect for nike any more. They view nike the same as intel - rudderless. Good luck getting quality talent now. You better outsource some more.
Rant over.
