Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What's the point for doing an "801" report on Levi jeans?

Supposedly it is in place for shrink purposes. I don't see how. Levis are stll being stolen, even with the ink tags on them. Ink tag removers are $10 on eBay. AP knows this but hasn't done anything about it (and not just for Levi's, but for the whole store), yet we "must" get this report done so it can be stuck in a binder. What does this report do, and why is it just for Levi's? There are tons of other merchandise in the store that is just as high value, if not of a higher value, than the Levi's (not that I'm advocating for this report).

This "801" report is time consuming. It's not a big deal when there is ample coverage and enough people to work on other things in the backroom, but it stings when you're alone most of the day and you have a ton of other, more important things to do. Of course it requires using the SNC. We all know any task involving a SNC ends up being a painful ordeal because they lock up and crash.

Guess how much time was wasted scanning 118 pairs of Levis, which isn't a whole lot? Try three hours. Three hours that could have been spent processing the remainder of a 750 piece truck for the floor (most of the time it is done alone, by the way) which now takes multiple days due to having no payroll.

I hear ya on those reams & reams of reports that just sit in the binders. I understand that years ago maybe spending time on this stuff made sense but not anymore.

(I'm the OP) The issue is that these reports are done and get filed away in a binder. They don't get "used". The only time they are checked is when district comes down. Like the millions of other binders and reports in the store, they just flip through this binder like a madman without actually taking the time to read through these reports, let alone skim through them.

We don't even have store level AP so by the time a shortage would be noticed, it would be too late.

It seems strange that a report must be completed with just Levi's, not that I'm advocating for more opportunities to waste time. There are many other items the DDC could short us, and they have. Tools comes to mind. I don't know how many times a web order comes through for a power tool or tool set of some sort and there isn't any, yet the on-hand says differently. They could have been shoplifted at the store, yes, but we also could have been shorted at the DDC. By the time we could do anything about it it is too late since there are only 72 hours to report a shortage. Our district AP hasn't been too helpful and doesn't seem to care a whole lot.

My store uses inventory reports for shrink but not off the floor shrink. Shortage on shipments received and shortage from unloading the truck. Inventory before it hits the floor.

You probably have high shrink in Div 41 and it's part of your action plan to determine if you're being shorted on shipments.

I only know the 801 report as the report listing everything that is on the RRC , DDC and UPS trucks.....We used to have to do snic scans on electronics that arrived on the RRC,DDC, and UPS trucks.....print out the scans as a replenishment list..and then turn those lists into L.P. so that tbey could compare our scans with what the 801 report says is on the truck......If we scanned less than what the 801 report said was on truck, and verified the discrepancies, L.P. would call in a shortage report to the RRC

We never had to do this with Levis in our store...only had to make sure they were inktagged.

Venting is fine but consider the positive alternative... In a few months you'll most likely never have to do another 801 report in your lifetime

Is the 801 report like an inventory report like the shoe department does?

To me it's useless especially if loss prevention never walks the floor. So if they do see the people stealing the jeans, by the time they manage to get downstairs, not only are jeans gone, but so are the people who are stealing them. The sad part about this is, the people who hit the stores specifically for the Levis knows this.

@q35 what exactly is a 801 report? I know what the out of stock is but never heard of this report?

You only got through a 118 pair or is that your total count of Levi?

We (sears) have about 3 tables full of Levi’s, in addition to the tall wooden tall cubes, about 8 rows of Levi’s the rest Lees.

How often do you have to do this report? I feel your pain about the sncs! Some days they work great and other days they just don’t want to connect. Some days in men’s you get a message “ out of range” and it’s so frustrating

I come across battery issues all the time.

I’ve been with sears 11 years and have never heard of the 801 report
