I'm a supervisor, however, between two of my crew members and the store manager I might as well not be. I am always being challenged by these particular crew members whenever I give them a directive. One of them will literally do something I told them not to do just to spite me. The other day, I told one of them to save a few boxes, yet he broke them down right in front of me as if to say that he will get away with it because the store manager won't care if it becomes an issue.
When they are not being insubordinate, they try to push me around. When I try to put them in their place, politely yet firmly, they take it personal and resort to yelling and being extremely argumentative.
I am always polite and respectful with everyone including the problem associates. unfortunately the store manager seems to favor two of these associates; me, not so much. Literally, I cannot confront these associates about their behavior or work performance without causing a big argument, even if it is something minor.
I feel like I don't have the support of the store manager at all. I genuinely feel that I would get in trouble for writing them up or "laying down the law", even though I'm within my rights to do so. I can't even discuss with the store manager the problems I'm having without being curtly cut off. She very clearly favors them over me. She made it clear that she "didn't want to lose anyone" the latest time I put my foot down for the latest round of insubordination and got called to her office for it. Really? You are okay with insubordination?
There is one ASM that I trust and share my concerns with but it is not fair to bother her with the problems I am having with my people as she has too much on her plate as it is. I've called 88Sears but nothing seemed to happen with that. I'm not comfortable telling the district manager because I don't know if they will turn right around and tell her.
So, basically, I'm stuck with two specific associates that is making my work life unbearable with a store manager that not only is enabling these problem associates, but seems to have an agenda against me for whatever reason. I hate coming to work and have anxiety issues because of it.
