Tipsord Will Save the Company?

Rumor mill aside (I hope), some have made statements to the effect that what Tipsord is doing will save the company. Maybe, maybe not. What I have observed is this: Tipsord and his minions (especially A. Pettit and S. Arnold) were the ones behind the Systems effort about 4-5 years ago to achieve "All, All, All" by way of the "future of the company" -- the Integrated Customer Platform. This was strategic "silver bullet" about which anyone with a reasonable amount of experience could have provided a dose of realistic advice (and some probably did, to no avail). There was NO POSSIBLE WAY it was feasible, yet they pressed onward. Within 3 years the effort was shut down.

The same "leaders" stood up a whole new department. Again, anyone with a reasonable amount of experience could have pointed out the redundancies and inefficiencies it would create. That department added hundreds of people to the ranks of the roles currently targeted for 50% reduction. Many uprooted their families for the "opportunity." These so-called "leaders" are basically carving out the very department they thought it was so necessary to stand up.

Meanwhile, they get to keep their jobs -- even with promotions.

Talk about throwing millions, if not more, out the window! What financial geniuses they are!

So if you think they'll save the company, think again. Their track record isn't that great so far.

Record capital position and record auto growth January through March. Something is going right. And, no, it is not just the stock market.

I agree see the BBB complaints the Glassdoor reviews and personal experience with their 2D auto policy deny and decline this company is definitely on its way into the ground. But then Karma is a bi–h comes and bites u in the b–t. So sorry not at all sorry for them. The day it goes busy will finally be a respite from thieves

SF is stronger than ever @SdSXFyS-2tjpa? If that is the case why the obliteration of the workforce and having the highest rates for low risk clients!? Rhetorical don't bother.

I have found that you can always depend on some level of incompetency between job responsibilities at many businesses. SF seems to be especially good at it. It comes down to one reason....no one wants to go the extra mile to fulfill all the requirements that their job duties entail. They want to do the minimum it takes to not lose their job. they had a word for it long ago.....oh yeah LAZY was it.

It is downright criminal what these people give away or screw up depending on which end of the stick you get when it happens. Think about it SF had to restructure AGAIN because someone can't fine tune their operations when reality doesn't agree with the plans initiated.

@SdSXFyS-2tjfq - If the Farm is showing you as still employed why not ask them for the paychecks you haven't received. Things are so F'd up that you just might get them!

This company has been destroyed in 5 years. Another 5 years and they will be insignificant in the insurance industry and Dipsord will not care. Jeez. I filed for unemployment and the company told the state I am still employed. I sent a resume to another company. They contacted HR at SF and they show me as still employed. I contacted SF to order the boxes to send back my equipment and they told me I was not on the list of people in lay offs. Crazy. Left hand does not know what the rt hand is doing. Brilliance starts at the top and so does failure!

We started layoffs from the first line people. We should have started with the executive suites and middle management who didn’t have the guts to say anything when things are going wrong. To many managers going with the flow instead of being leaders,

To the last poster not caring about the stature or leadership’s values... that’s not a leader. And regarding to focus on his decisions, job stability and the local economy?? Don’t forget that all of us have or will be impacted in other cities and not strictly Bloomington.

It’s imperative that are leaders demonstrate key leadership behaviors that lead the rest of us and sets the tone. And with the Me Too Movement and wreckless behavior exposes all of ys. Poor decision making, lack of self awarenes and not complying with our Company’s Code of Conduct is not acceptable and questions one’s judgment and ability to lead.

I do agree that namecalling not necessary but do appreciate various emotions that people are feeling

To be frank I really don’t care if Tipsord has a first or second love child. I really wish these posts would stop talking about pregnancies or various nick names for the guy. What is more concerning to me is the stability of our jobs and the local economy. Can we all focus on the business decisions he is making, the people he has put in place to help navigate the waters and work on sharing valid information?

If it’s really true about a 2nd love child... he needs to be terminated. His face on the Code of Conduct site doesn’t equate, and hypocritical.

OP is right except for two points:

  • The spending was a little over $2B

  • It was thousands of hires and thousands of externals in addition to those hires.

I agree that the wrong people are being let go. And am in full agreement with the other poster that mentioned the same mistakes are likely to be made again. That comment is on point.

He didn’t have the power to do anything? Who did? Ed Rust wasn’t asking the right questions but he put all his trust in the CIO and the VP’s in Systems. Those were he people with the power.

The Oak aka the weasel is the one behind the collapse of the system dept. terrible leader no leadership skills, no ability to get things done and produce results. Just empty slogans like “start with yes” and “all, all, all”. He should’ve been released with the other two. Instead he get to waste money on his empty worthless vision of the future. He also gets to collect his FAT paycheck and bonuses.

Mark was a real dude? He was one of these people shepherding these terrible decisions. He didn’t have the skills or experience to navigate this ship or that project. He was a programmer that had been promoted up through the rankswith only SF experience. He was a nice looking guy but he did not have what it takes, the vision to map out the picture or the experience to execute against it.

Accountability??? Exactly accountability question mark.

If she was in charge of the workforce(hiring), in charge of bringing externals (external sourcing), and the Systems financials over the last how many years??? And you can’t equate that to being the largest part of the problem you have had your head in the sand. Systems spent us and hired us into this mess and she was overseeing the spend and the hiring. The buck should be stopping there but in true State Farm fashion she is still in power and has been promoted. Time for the changing of the guard.

If the CEO is building a house in Texas that is an issue. Texas is the friendliest state for business than any of the other hub locations. That would mean Bloomington is dust.

We have a CEO that is now working on his 2nd love child. What in the hell is going on in that E-Tower. If it was a trailer it would be rocking 24-7. I picture Titi sitting up there in a hot tub with a cigar in one hand and a Bourbon in the other with a curly haired, ungroomed chest with his secretary sitting on the edge of the hot tub. We have a CEO with absolutely no morals but somehow we think he's positioned to make decisions cutting thousands of jobs of the backbone of State Farm. These long time, hard working employees don't deserve this abuse while our CEO galavants around the E tower. The writing is on the wall, its time for Titi to be let go from State Farm. Ed let it slide with the 1st love child but now with the 2nd love child will the Chairman's Council turn another blind eye to these actions against the moral code in his contract.

The OP is right on. The leadership now in charge was in charge when these programs like CDE and ICP as well as the ISD area were stood up. ISD was a joke and led us to having unskilled BAs dumped in the internal job mix. Now with so many decent systems managers taking retirement the ISD people are in charge of systems directorships and management positions and they will choose their pals over skilled systems BAs. I say this as a skilled systems BA who has worked on several projects with six ISD BAs watching me work. They know nothing about requirements, testing or test environments and validating results and were not trained except by sysyems BAs who did what they could. It is a sick joke and now it's the former systems BAs who will be unemployed.

If he is making the right moves why are there so many layoffs and TMs firing associates left and right. Auto ILR, straight through processing and now this thing with Tipsord getting his secretary pregnant, the whole place is going to hell.

Accountability? Who was the systems leader when ICP began? Who is the leader Now? A change made.. No one has any idea if there was a demotion, salary cut in half, or any other repercussions. Are you looking for a hanging in the public square? Get a clue people

NoWonderYoureBeingFired, is it possible the decisions made by Senior Leaders were wrong? It is easy to blame middle management when they are forced to implement a bad program. Admitting your mistakes is part of good leadership. MT doesn’t have that trait.

I am one who believes mt is doing what has to be done and should have been done over the past 25 years. He's making the right moves. But I also agree the people who have led these IT projects over the past decade have not been held accountable. How many silver bullet mistakes are these people going to get away with?
