Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Day receiving does too much to get rid of it

Getting rid of the clerk or any other day receiving position would cause chaos in the club. People don't realize how much we do and how busy we are.

We do paperwork, make copies for people, put tags on bails, unlock the bailer, build professional relationships with outside vendors and ups by engaging in important conversations. We buzz people in all morning, take phone calls to write appointments, hand yellow vests to produce associates so they can go spot. We engage in research in the office by checking websites like this one to keep fellow associates informed. We stay late each day, making us have to leave early every Friday.

Speaking of schedules, we never get week days off unless we ask for them. We have to work 5 days straight no matter what. Meanwhile other associates get easy random scedhules to help break up their week. Even managers get better schedules. Having weekends always off is horrible! How come we don't get to close and then come in a few hours later to start a new shift?

Don't get me started on night receiving. Lazy. There's always atleast one working. They pull a few trucks (2 DCs, water, paper, 3 CRLS, Mcclane) and then have nothing to do. Always leaving breakdowns for the 4 of us on the dock to do when we are swamped. If one of us on days takes vacation we only have 3 people on the dock at any given time. That's insane! They also don't have to get radios at night to bring back to the office to shut off.

If Sam's gets rid of be ready for all the clubs to start falling apart more than they already are.

New Receiving program to be rolled out in next couple months will feature vendors making their own appointments. It will be interesting to watch when you will have nights when you have a couple paper trucks, water, 3 fresh and a 2 or 3 DC trailers, then the next night you will have only 1 DC and 1 fresh load. One night you will crazy busy, the next night you will be done with everything by first break and have to find things to do the other 5 hours you are scheduled. Get yourself a big tub of popcorn, it’s gonna be quite the show!

Night receiving manages to have plenty of trucks show up over the weekend, not sure why daytime can't manage to have any. Don't talk about your few trucks as if they're enough to justify the levels of staffing that exist on the dayside. It can definitely be done with one person. And don't forget that in the winter not only does nightshift not get any sunlight to offset the cold, but the plows never come until the morning so we get to dig out the docks ourselves for the trucks.

Not sure where you work in the club but obviously you know nothing about receiving office and dock. It is quite amazing that you have four dock partners. Who let that happen? We have a team lead and one in office that helps on dock as needed. I have spoken to clubs over the years that have one dock person and team leader but no more than that. It would definitely make a lot of sense for day receiving to work the weekend when no local carriers, soft drink deliveries, liquor deliveries, Bunzl , Fedex, UPS, Goodyear and Michelin and select local vendors do not deliver! Not to mention no one in home office can be reached. You should suggest that for whoever will be left in receiving, makes so much sense. Maybe you should learn to compose an email with correct sentence structure and spelling before you think about making more hilarious comments about people losing their position! Oh and by the way you forgot to mention the delightful working conditions on the dock especially in the winter when doors are open and the antiquated heaters forget its winter. Compactor stench is especially nice in the summer. Yes receiving has all the perks.

Took me way to long to realize this was cleverly written in a first person fake format.

Clever

Good thing I'm wearing my boots because it's getting a little deep.
