Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Clerks stand up

ok..enough...we are stronger than they think, I'm going to start calling res.for living and tell them I'm so stressed about work I can't work...Can we all do that? I want a new job description and SOP. Where is that? Besides ghost busters who can we call about that or email? I have nothing to loose but the sheer fact that I might get under their skin would make me happy....A while back there was a newspaper in Bentonville that was publishing articles about these layoffs can anyone tell me what paper that was...I'm ready to make my voice heard.....They can do and will do what ever their plans are but I plan to be heard...

Nobody knows what is to happen. The whole receiving team could be taken down and restructured into differently named roles in receiving. Who knows?

To each and everyone of you and your rude, disrespectful, bad attitude comments to the clerks. How disgusting of all you to bash anyone in his or her position about to lose his or her job. Check yourselves! Get an attitude adjustment. Cash office and audit, it was horrible in our club when they were displaced. Stick together as associates instead of bringing one another down. My gosh!

And never forget, we are ALL replaceable!!!

To those of you whose club or position got eliminated, I sincerely hope you get a job with a company that doesn’t change much and the pay is acceptable to you, but to those of us associates who remain employed at a SAM’S Club as part of the team, excluding mgnt, see that remaining as a tight unit, realize that HO and mgnt made all decisions and not the anybody on our team/associates did. Don’t let any fault be aimed at any associate. Your/my teammates know where it all should be blamed.

Hey stop knocking each other. We work for SAM’S. We as associates need to be “ONE” team. There are many positions on this team and the coaches, as Mgrs. were once called, can get rid of anyone at anytime. The bickering from the team is very dangerous I.e. if a quarterback, good or okay quality-wise, who was hired by the coaches, threw the ball to his teammate and no one wanted to be a team player. The ball would just fall to the ground/field. However, if the players are working together and understood they need to be a TEAM, no matter what position, they can go to the Super Bowl. In our case, we came to be hired, probably for any position on our team. Now instead of working as a team, side by side, we are bickering and knocking each other. Good or okay quality-wise, we need to be a TEAM and know we are associates and can accomplish the benefits, entire Sam’s Share which is a few thousand, etc. Look at all the companies laying off employees. Mgmt. is separate from us and can hire or fire whenever they want. The pay agreement and position is for the coaches/mgrs to decide. We’re not working as a team. We’re just knocking each other. We didn’t make any of the scary changes. We, anyone still receiving a paycheck, need not blame any associate, instead, it was not you/team member in any position who picked that member of our team or decided who or what changes were to take place. Looks like H.O. enjoys seeing us or depts be eliminated. Stop the team bickering and remember how you felt when hired cause you actually got a job.

That’s why clerks going away because of you! If it weren’t for members you wouldn’t have a truck to unload or a bill to receive, get your a-- up and get on the floor. 20 years doesn’t give you entitlement you moron...........

I was referring to "I" as a receiving clerk, not we. There is only one clerk in my club and that's I.

Alot can be said by the number of “I” did this and I did that from quite a few clerks in their post . Well if you are a team player “we” is expected to show you are working for a team, not just for yourself. How many “I” did you write? Look in the mirror before you put your I’s all over the place next time.

As a clerk myself, I can tell you are all jealous of us. So what if I am lazy. I have over 20 years with this company. I paid my dues. If this company didn't want me sitting down all day they wouldn't have put chairs in the receiving office. If you want me to get out on the floor and help you better give me a pay raise. And last time I checked I was capped, so good luck with that...

If us clerks are so lazy and don't do anything. Then why do you and everyone else in club come to us for everything. I am a clerk. I feel very appreciated by my coworkers and manager's. I'm not doing as much as I was before but I'm still doing a lot. Dang y'all are just flat out Jealous, dumb--sociates. Everyone on here that's bad talking rec. Clerks are the same pissed off ones that didn't get the position. Grow up! I as a Receiving Clerk watched out for the club. I saved us money and in return made your Sam's Share bigger.

Sorry, but day receiving clerk is easy. Unless you are one those rare clerks that helps claims, your lead, other departments and the floor...There just isn't 8 hours of work for a clerk. Especially with all these changes.

" A lot of day receiving things you clerks are going on about take no more than a few seconds to a few minutes to do and many of these tasks are not even everyday things."......Again someone who does not do the job has spoken well !!.....indeed there are some things that take but a few seconds. Fed Ex and UPS are not them. You people who know nothing about the job continue to spew silly things. I hope all you guys are the ones who have to start doing those "few second " jobs

Years ago when receiving was all day shift and there were enough people to do the job right people who were not in receiving began to spread lies about how easy receiving was. The only "easy" thing about receiving was the set schedule and that was the thing all the jealous liars could not stand. Believing the lies management over the years reduced the amount of people in receiving thinking receiving is easy peasy and takes no time at all. Again the lies. Being dedicated to the job receiving workers continued to work their butts off , begging for help when the freight flow was overwhelming. The begging fell on mostly deaf ears and when help was given it was very very begrudgingly. As if the help was really not needed.

This trend has been so prevalent that now the company is dismantling receiving believing the lies that receiving tasks take but mere seconds.

Receiving folks , the red headed step children of Sam's will continue to take the beatings in hopes of someday enjoying the favors afforded the wicked step sisters.....

Receiving is King Lear's Daughter Cordelia ......the good sister betrayed by the lies of the wicked sisters..........

If you clerks do 5s wrap and tag merchandise, ups aznd FedEx. What does your lead Do? Im.the lead and my clerk does not help me at all. She does her job in.office then goes to the floor or bakery by 8am most days. As we can all see each club is ran different. There is lazy people in all different areas in different clubs. So let's not put all clerks in a box and claim they are all lazy. Or for that matter any postion. Everyone is different. We all have lazy workers it's just to bad the lazy ones keep there job and the workers seem to lose there's.

with these clerks thinking and certainly telling everyone they are all that and then some, why not just turn the clubs over to them. no need for any mgt, they have all that covered and now they want you to believe not a floor person one is worth a crap. soon they’ll be telling us how they also take care of front end and membership. legends in their own minds. ask the walmart recv clerks how that’s working out for them

Your know you're reaching when you are claiming things like donations, scheduling a pallet trailer, or taking ups/fedex are so hard and time consuming. A lot of day receiving things you clerks are going on about take no more than a few seconds to a few minutes to do and many of these tasks are not even everyday things.

I can tell you one thing for sure if Sam's needs all you lazy floor folk who can't even wrap a skid you pull from the floor or won't make a bale or won't put a CIM tag on absolutely anything in order keep running then the club will be safe for years to come. You only think clerk knowledge is on the MC70 because you have absolutely know idea how to down anything at all that the clerk does. If you did you would know that very little of it is on the MC70. Nope the club won't collapse with the clerk but by golly it is gonna be chaos. Wait til one of you whinny floor folk have to put the 5 S shelf in order boy will the tears flow. 5 S is not hard but NONE of you do it and would be clueless where to begin. Seeing the freezers full of donations because none of you can quit talking long enough to pull it to the back when the folks come to get it will be priceless. All you clunkers and the management team will stand there with you hands in you pockets saying gee what a mess , who is supposed to take care of this??? the answer is you are now the clerks are gone and TL isn't there either.........hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahha..............think I will get me some popcorn and a pop and come in on my day off just to watch all you cry that the sky is falling..............

Clerks always go back their tried and true “I drive circles around you on forklift” or “good luck without my knowledge.” same old lines. Here’s some info for you, all your knowledge is pretty much on a TC70. And the forklift line, how many times will that one piece of strength work?? You might be a really, really good forklift driver soon doing the steel walk fixes and driving more on that dock. Stop with the office talk and justifying your work in there. Get off of that pedestal and come down here with your coworkers.

If you think Sam’s won’t survive without you, just give your local Walmart a call and ask them how they are surviving without their invoice clerk. Trust me, the Company will survive without you!! You are ridiculous to think a club will shut down because you are no longer there.

I thought it was just our club, but apparently all rec clerks think they are God’s gift. Ours is pushing 50 and flitters around wearing teenager clothes looking down her nose at everyone and flirting with the vendors. She looks ridiculous. However she would tell you everyone is jealous of her since she’s so fabulous. Truth is all our jobs are on the line. No one is exempt, it is the way it is. Things are changing. Stop taking it personally. Stop posting that you are the glue keeping things together. Trust me, when you are gone, they will survive. Your club isn’t going to close without you. You also will survive. There are other jobs. This isn’t the end of the world. It is what it is. Do you really, truly think they can’t figure things out without you?

Thank you to the last comment. There is a lot of bashing going on but finally nice to know that someone understands the clerk position and what it means. Even though my cm has told me he will work with me on what the club needs from me the hours I'm not in receiving but I think it will be more of a headache when there's only the clerk and t/l in a club that does over 100 m a year . This is wearing me down not knowing when the axe is going to fall and to know I'm going to be used all over the place

oh man it is so fun to hear all the non clerks speaking about what clerks do and don't do ...so so fun...at most clubs the receiving clerks shoulder nearly all merchandise issues..they do the research , they deal with home office or dc's or trucking companies ....heck they even have to make all the calls to see why member bob still has not picked up his couch that was purchased last month....even though they are not supposed to do supply ordering anymore guess what ..they are still made to do it or are grilled each week as to why orders were not made that management was supposed to make...on and on and on the list goes....Clerks are not believing it all can not be done with out them but what they do KNOW is that none of the lazy floor leads or managers they have always to cover for will know HOW to do all the stuff nor with they do it right even if they do.......We all know the have to stuff will eventually get done but not before an absolutely huge chaotic mess happens first.....as certain as the sun rises each day the chaos storm will strike nearly every club......most clerks seem to hoard their knowledge but the truth is that NO ONE who has started learning receiving wants to keep doing it after they see the depth of it all...no sir ..they all run as fast as they can,,,that leaves the dedicated clerk there for 20 years doing all that work while those who don't know bad mouth and back stab while those who do know keep their mouth shut...................those who mock the work have never done the work ......Guaranteed...................

You receiving clerks are lying to yourselves. The only reason you have knowledge that nobody else has is because you have refused to share it over the twenty years you’ve been with the company. You boast about being level 7s yet you never take responsibility for your own mistakes and can’t wait to roll over on your team leads and managers. As a level 7, and with your massive intelligence, you all should have no problems adapting to new responsibilities.

when will someone justify not having a receiving clerk and show maintaining the business without them so that the clerks will listen and let it sink in to understand the dynamics behind what is going on? Because all I see is clerks saying it can’t happen, no way Jose, and clubs will fall without the knowledge. Think about what you are saying, sounds like denial. I like the post that said save the dramatics... classic

Totally agree. The only way you go 5 years without a Receiving Clerk is you are a very small volume club or you have more people on the dock so that you can spend time in the office doing work. I will be the first to admit that the clerk responsibilities that the HO as set for the Receiving Clerk has diminished greatly. However, each club has the Clerk doing more and more outside the daily routine and that tends to differ from club to club. Our club gets 2-3 Dry Good DC trucks a night and Freezer/Cooler and Meat and produce 5 nights a week. We have 2 working on nights and 2 on days. So yes I do work out on the dock for the majority of the day. So to the poster that hasn't had a clerk in 5years. You probably haven't enough of a workload to need a clerk.

I've been with the company for well over 20 years now and have seen really bad floor partners as well as some pretty bad receiving clerks. I've worked in three different clubs and have seen some of the hardest working floor associates along with some really good receiving clerks. Point being that we need to stop classifying all floor associates and receiving clerks under one umbrella. Grow up people and act like adults.
