Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How are things at Oracle?

I was laid off two years ago, but I have to admit I still miss working at Oracle. I loved my job, had great coworkers, and even managers. I have a new job, but it's not the same.

How is the situation there these days? Are layoffs still an omnipresent shadow or have things settled down a bit?

That was one thing that I hated, but everything else was good.

I love this reply: “Peachy, nothing like being a dinesour when the meteors start falling to earth.”

Exactly.

I wouldn't be the person I am today if I didn't work for Oracle. Go figure

Me either. Paranoid and skeptical of everything and everyone. I have seen the dark side of a lot of people.

Not necessarily a fake post. I was laid off a year ago, and I can tell you that I enjoyed working at Sun^H^H^HOracle. And that should give you the idea. A lot of people who were laid off were from acquisitions and their organizations carried on without changing a lot, up until Oracle laid the people off. In Europe, at least, the layoffs were quite fair and you can't help but feel some nostalgia for the job.

I have a different job right now that I enjoy, I like the people I work with, and of course, I'm aware there's no going back to the way it was.

But at the same time, I'd be very happy if I was able to continue doing what I was doing and working with the people I worked with.

However, I'm quite aware it's not going to happen. Going "back" to Oracle is not actually going back. The team I worked in is disbanded, the department I was in is not hiring locally. If I moved to Oracle, it would be a completely different team, different job, different responsibilities and different people.

Panta rhei.

I spent 15 years at Oracle and was laid off over the summer. It really was time to leave the company. I should have left a couple of years ago. The company has changed for the worse. I'm with another large company now. The culture here is so much better than Oracle. Stay away and don't look back.....
