Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

The new system, ladies and gentlemen

In our store they cancelled our 8 specialist positions, and replaced us all with 3 shop captains from unrelated areas. Then they did this "Total Store" crap where no one stays in a department long enough to learn anything, and told the Shop Captains and the Sales Managers it was their job to crosstrain everyone with no additional resources. Of course, those of us who were commission-based specialists, and now just salaried sales associates, are the ones getting stuck doing the training and answering all the questions, without even a by-your-leave. It's the Magic of Macy's®!

Why does anyone need a specialist to pick out a Polo shirt and khakis? I liked my Path to Growth bonus in May and I’ll get it again in August! Spread the wealth to everyone in the store, not just a few people who may or may not have been responsible for that merchandise department making a pithy sales plan compared to everyone working together to make the total store successful.

That happened at least two years ago in my store. When it all said and done. With the low staffing levels we now have and limited flex and pt. That specialization is out the window. I loved the days when I had a specialist in polo. Those days are gone.
