Here's a few home truths for the anti Kmart peeps on here:
Truth #1 Kmart is cheaper than competitors. Free shipping with a lower threshold than most competitors and a point system that gives true discounts.
Truth#2. Kmart is a strong chain with nearly 350 locations across America. Just because Kmart isn't in any given market has no bearing on its ability to do well in the markets that it is in. 350 stores is still a massive number of stores. How many Kmarts have most people even been inside during their lives? In and Out burger not being in Miami has not bearing on its ability to be successful in LA. Dillard's not being in New York has no bearing on its ability to be successful in Dallas. HEB not being in Philadelphia has no bearing on its ability to be successful in Houston. There are many markets with a strong Kmart presence.
Truth #3 A Kmart revival may still happen. A chain of 350 stores is not the same as a chain of 2000 or even 1200. Kmart is a completely different company, operating in a completely different retail sector than it was even 5 years ago. The past ten years have no bearing on its ability to forge a future. The new retail model combines brick, morter, store pickup. S S Kresge has adapted to a changing retail landscape before and come out stronger and I have faith that it will do so again!! People are excited about Kmart and they've noticed that a real change is in the air lately.
Truth #4. If you don't like Kmart and you don't see a future in it then why have so little self respect as to work for a company that you don't want to succeed. Every employee is part of the success of a retailer. If employees give up on Kmart and don't see a future then they'll bring about that reality. You chose to work there and you choose to take the pay check, have self respect and take pride in your company and your role in bringing Kresge's into the future.
