Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What is happening in the CSM world?

Copied from another post. What is going on? How is it related to layoffs? Is this board now a grievance zone? If a few are so miserable no one is forcing you to stay. Go ahead and start looking for new jobs.

I can’t believe what I am witnessing in the Customer Success department at Oracle. CB and RB have created the worst culture with no employee success (despite what they say on the All Hands Calls which are a bunch of lies).

This new Hub Leader RB has no business in his role. There is no scorecard whatsoever so there is a lot of skeptical business practices. HR should be notified. Hard work isn’t appreciated or recognized properly. Nothing is communicated around details of how we are restructuring. It’s really awful. The latest which came out this week is bonuses are determined by whoever is in with the management leadership, not real results. Really bad.

At some point CR and MH will get wind of this and get rid of these bafoons. Mark my word.

All the whining is hilarious. Before I left, I literally did nothing for a year and a half. Most other people in CSM land don't do sh-- either.

I almost stayed because RB/CB, but my manager was an idiot and the whole team didn't do anything but complain. I heard that AMB got the boot, so obviously they know where the toxic people are.

Keep whining, never quit. One luv.

The politicking alone looks horrible for RB. And then when you add on his arrogance, lack of transparency and concern for his employees I’d say that’s plenty to build a case. Gotta blame C.B. for allowing so many hard working employees to be exposed to someone like him so early in their careers. I feel bad for them as I witness it all go down from a different org. You can only hope they’ll shake things up even more then they already have.

No, I wouldn't bother with employee surveys. It's all rigged anyway and certainly not anonymous.

Thelayoff.com/oracle should be in my.orcacle.com for all employees to read. It’s the real news instead of the fake employee survey that said “anonymous” bs, your manager knows who wrote the comments. 100% response rate expected b.s don’t bother.

@TTiFLGO-2hxk it looks like a typical response from RB. Arrogance and ego is his middle name; as well as, enabling a culture of back stabbing, rumor mills and distrust. Those he has let into his inner circle are those who kiss up. CB can actually inspire and rally the team around a vision. I think she has the ability to execute. RB got to where he was by following the approach he prefers his staff to take with him. Unfortunately, we think CB is blind to how those under RB feel about his lack to lead us through this change and be strategic. Plus the fact he has some serious social skills quirks which makes it hard to be face to face with.

@@TTiFLGO-1cng - looks like a management response.

Whoever it was, response is full of arrogance and ignorant tone-blaming team Oracle (below) management layer for the mess. All success is mine and failure is yours. Well well that would not take this company places. I am part of the Oracle problem and I am problem too, funny thing is I cannot do anything to fix the problem, except get out of the problem.

It would take me 2-3 years to get next job. The interesting stuff would be how long would I be able to keep my sanity before I get into depression . Cheers Mr Management, enjoy your weekend.

Response by @TTiFLGO-1cng is completely accurate. RB, you’ve lost your team and your managers right now. You have miles to make up. Your attitude is anything but admirable. If Oracle Execs specifically told you to lead this way then that’s a ginormous problem. You have a staff of 150+ millennials. The lack of leadership, zero transparency and very little to no concern for employee success exhibited since they promoted you to M6 VP is horrendous. I’m embarasssed to say that I work on your team. Maybe I do need to go. But the opposite could be true too. That you need to go. Go somewhere who appreciates ignorance and power. Because it’s really not something Oracle should stand for.

Nice @TTiFLGO-1tcs. Should we assume you are RB? Instead of taking an anonymous approach I think a revisit to your remote offices are long overdue. Actually hold all hands and spend time with folks instead of being booked with back to back meetings. Answer the tough questions without saying “it is still being worked through”. Include some of the key folks and management (not just OMC and Ops) in the process. Also, work on being sincere instead of I am the boss and you should fawn all over me while I talk the whole time. Listen to the feedback and instead of making promises actually execute. Respond to emails. Stop giving staff the same projects to just keep them busy. You can make a comeback but you have to be willing to make some changes to win back the trust and respect of your management team, team leads and CSMs. We are broken.

First, I want to let all of the folks who feel left in the dark that their are very specific communication plans that are being tightly managed to ensure compliance with revrec/legal and such. That said, speculating that there will be a severe headcount reduction when the market is clearly demonstrating a need for more business-focused CSMs is misguided.

The changes are ALL focused on improving the customer experience. This will certainly require people. In fact, if you are actually invested (rather then just complaining) please watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWr6guAQjWc 11mins - 20 min.

Also, your bonuses are a reflection of the CSM orgs achivements. Please understand that you have new leadership because the previous team did not achieve results. Please understand that if you had low/no survey participation, no training achievements, no expansions, no renewals, Lots of need for executive involvement... you did not earn a large bonus share.

“When you burn something to the ground and rebuild it” as per RB you tend to lose the people inside of what you are burning or at least most of them. He unintentionally showed his hand with this comment. When you intentionally alienate your management staff and make comments like “that’s not for public knowledge and I cannot share that with you yet” or “you are not part of the know” you do it all for the purpose of getting the staff out you don’t need. RB would be the easiest poker player to beat his tells have become obvious to us all now. His only job is to execute on the reorg and downsizing. Once that is completed they will either let him go or he will find a new job. When he has to execute the plans in front of him, it destroys cultures and trust. He is a short time VP for the sole purpose of these changes. He is here to do the dirty work which sadly he doesn’t even have the stomach to do and has begun to shut down with everyone.

@TTiFLGO-alj this makes total sense. My manager says they still are unclear on the new model. This whole process of secrecy and behind the red curtain mentality has create a culture of distrust and stabbing others in the back to get a leg up or in favor with someone in the circle. Unless you are on the VIP list, you are in the loser line waiting to be told if we have a job or not. I hate to say it, but I never thought the culture could get worse. They succeeded. All in hopes to get their much needed attrition it now seems. What a shame.

His org may be 200 now, but he needs to “find” homes for 50% of his staff as his Fy19 headcount is less 50%. Even then he can’t manage that many people.

What’s happening here is RB can’t lead a team and he has responsibility for the largest one in CS. An org of 200 and he hardly has a true relationship with anybody. Managers included.

Think it’s obvious the CSM role is being diminished. The free offering that most customers will use does not have a CSM aligned to the customer. It’s going self serve and through chat. If you are too dense to read between the lines then wait it out and watch it happen. Be miserable. None of my customers want to be upsold to pay for a CSM, Sales will have to do this work now.

Actually CSMs have been fixing sales' mistakes for years and repairing the relationships that had been broken by unethical selling practices.

The CSM org is too big anyway. Sales has been picking up their slack for years. My gut is in a year the CSM role will be obsolete and combined in sales or support. Too much headcount for the Os taste.

OP: @TTiFLGO you are out of touch and need to stop trolling this board.

This board does not have structured requirements for the layoff conversations. Nor is it a courtroom where we can debate the term Layoff and the name of this site and whether or not conversation about how Oracle no longer uses Layoffs but rolling terminations and RIF's that circumvent the term and legal governance around LAYOFFS. So take your garbage and go find a lawyers social media page to chat and chew the fat.

Thank you very much.

Now, folks back to the discussion.
