As an employee, I don't want to see a mass exodus until I secure my new job first. Then I really could not care less what happens to X. Actually, a mass exodus could be better for the employees, although many may have stocks or options. Former employees and competitors likely have better things to do than to post factual indicators of the current X down-spiral.
Having my finger on the company's pulse, all of the statements from the initial post are correct, plus X is really treating it's customers poorly. Even very large contracts are badly managed to the point where competitors can easily displace X. Sure there is a revenue stream, but leadership does not properly protect it.
It really does feel like short term moves to goose quarterly results, and to get a marginally better bids at a fire sale auction.
