Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Eddie stepping down is NOT a good thing for you

I don’t think there is another person on the planet as stubborn as Eddie is. The fact that even he has given up is actually a major blow to your company. Let’s be real here....is there any person you can think of that would keep a company who loses billions a year going for almost a decade? Anyone else who would go as far as to lend his own company money to keep going? Honestly I don’t think another person like that exists.

Despite whatever motives he had, I don’t think sears has been a viable business for years and him stepping down means even he sees that now.

Which of course means it’s highly unlikely someone else will think it’s a viable business either.

It would possibly be a good think 5-6 years ago when there was greater chance for a turnaround but it’s really one of the worst things possible now.

Once the money runs out again it might actually be gone for good this time.

By Eddie stepping down it is easier for him to buy Kenmore, Parts Direct, Services and anything else he wants. He forgives some of the debt owed him, he buys what he wants for pennies. Plan complete. Nothing illegal because he is now just a bystander, business man trying to do business. Genius!!! I love this guy.

I’m saying him stepping down signals the end for your company. His either his goal is complete or it failed. Ether way he doesn’t need y’all anymore. That’s why it’s bad.

Jesus you guys are actually dumb.

OP's post is mo--nic. As if Eddie not stepping down would be better for SHC? Just stupid.

One thing to understand in BK is that the CEO typically does step down. They bring in another lead person, in this case the restructuring officer, and place an executive or two into a committee to run the company, which happened today. All of this is SOP for BK filing......Eddie will never be CEO again - they will name a new CEO if the company emerges intact....doubt that will even be anyone currently on staff....

I think he stepped down in a weak attempt to show good faith to the bankruptcy court and to avoid questions directed at him. He was going to get asked why was he still there and about the multiple hats he was wearing to make money for HIMSELF.

The OP seems to not understand that a "turn-around" was NEVER the objective. Grow up.

Transferring assets from SHC to ESL was ALWAYS the goal.

We know it isn't going to end well. Trust me, I know the only reason why this farce of a company kept going for so long was because of Eddie. But it wasn't because he wanted to save the Sears/Kmart, more that he wanted to exploit it for his own gain. Now that he has stepped down he will have almost no real liability anymore and will still scoop up whatever he wants left without it looking bad for him.

And honestly? I think it is GOOD, good in a way that the hard working people of both stores know that it is probably going to end very soon and they can at least know it is time to move on.

@VEwGsoR-dpk

It’s ironic you try to call me an id--t when your post has absolutely no substance. It’s simply an opinion based on no evidence.

You’re definitely an id--t if you think the time he spend dealing with this dumpster fire of a situation instead of using it for something better, his monetary losses from his hedge fund investment into sears since its peak, and his absolutely trashed reputation can be made up for by when he receives from this bankruptcy.

The way I see it is he’s trying to cover his butt and at least recoup some of the losses..but he definitely won’t profit.

Don't be an id--t. Whether he was there or not as CEO didn't matter. He stepped down so that he could skirt self-dealing claims so he can pick up the parts of the business he wants in bankruptcy. Why do you think he named his own successors?
