Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

No WARN notice even though it was obligatory

The WARN ACT does require a 60 day notification. There are a few exceptions, but even in those cases the law says they have to provide written notice if why they were unable to provide the 60 days required by law. We were not given anything like that. Just a question and answer packet to frequent qusetion BS . Not even a thanks for your 20-30 year dedication to this company. Not a thanks for coming in and working on your kids birthday to make sure things were covered. Not a thanks for giving up time with your loved ones whenever the club needed anything....just a few pages of c-ap telling us we had 45 days until termination if we do not find another position. THANKS WALMART!!!

Feel for the OP ( @VNNuMsr-qet ). Letting people go like this after years of service, sadly, has become a standard. This post underlines the importance of getting familiar with the procedures and employee rights, cause tomorrow it could be you.

For the poster who is enjoying there pto time ...... good, enjoy it while you have it. Because they`ve changed it once , they sure will change it again and your wrong. There are a lot of Companies that start out with two weeks vacation and better benifits. They also treat there employees better. You just stick around until its your turn to be axed

WARN Act doesn't apply since it is not a MASS layoff.

Always amazed that people get feelings about the very complicated contract between an employee and employers. You show up for work, in return, you get paid for showing up. You decide to go to work for another company, you give current employer a two week notice. Current employer decides to streamline operations, then after months of credible rumors that certain areas would soon be changed, employer give you 45 days to decide if you would like to continue to work for said employer.

Stay or go, it’s your personal choice. People that post here that they left and are glad they did, I am glad they are happy. I personally enjoy the 35 days (7 weeks) off a year that I accumulate in PTO hours. I do not believe I would be able to find another job that would start with 2 weeks of vacation as a new employee, let alone build up to 7 weeks off, unless I invest another 10-15 years at a new job.

No one is letting you go. You have the ability to re apply for the new positions or take other spots in the club. Its life deal with it. I'm an ex audit lead and ex cash office associate. Who's now a COS.

Good riddens and what a relief. I wish they would just give us our severence today. The thought of work 45 days for this shady disrespectful and greedy company makes me sick. Can’t wait until 12/7/2018.
