Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why is everyone so internally focused. What about the customers?

Has anyone thought what happens to the clients implementing a telecom solution and the resources to implement, bill, install, etc. when these are no longer there? What of clients who lose their account teams and have no one to call Jan. 1? I am sure the new guy will be able to jump right in and take over a complex multitiered solution. Right!! Just the politics alone in business accounts require care and management.

I would think that the company should have offered a separation but made sure that resources are in place and/or available to support the clients, particularly those spending millions to hundreds of millions per year. A gradual transition including client introductions to new teams, identified processes to replace existing, etc. should all be developed and implemented. However how will this be done in a matter of days during the holidays, particularly with people who have 4 plus weeks of vacation and personal days.

Basically I see it as just abdicating the business to the competitors. And let's not forget the adage that once you make a client angry it takes 3 times as long and 10 times the cost to reacquire that client.

If you work in a store the writing is on the wall. In store pick ups, customer has to do own data transfers with appointments set up with assurion, trade in at home etc... No traffic in stores as the company is trying to make the customer self sufficient.

@W0KBfR1-bdq you get a 50% discount so your importance is equally discounted.

"What of clients who lose their account teams and have no one to call Jan. 1?"

We send them to the VEC because "customers are clamoring for digital/online solutions that are available 24x7"

My guess is that these are the types of roles that will be retained on payroll for the later options mentioned (March or June 2019).
