Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

This is what is wrong with these layoffs

On site in Bxb about 25. Nearly the entire 4th floor of bldg was cut (70+ was the number in the paperwork) no managers knew who or how many. The new director was given a cut number and he made the choices. It’s interesting that po land was basically spared maybe new director used that head po person to determine who to keep who to stay there is no review cycle or paperwork since 2015 so no data way of making a choice only the super effective subjective s--- up way of making the choice

So they gave people who are new to the company the task of deciding who to lay off? No wonder we are losing our best people! If the only thing they look at are numbers and not the overall contributions of individuals to the company, both us and them in the long run are screwed.

Cisco culture is meaningless to a lot of the new execs. It's no longer "let's come up with a strategy." Now it's "when i say jump, you say 'how high?'" Apparently, all it takes is a new VP who doesn't like your style. I was asked to do things that were against Cisco policy and just bad business. I always explained why I couldn't. After that, I got the silent treatment. And then on Monday, my walking papers. After 15+ years of excellent reviews, awards, and all of those things -- one person decided to show me the door.

This is a really interesting observation. There’s no way of identifying underperforming individuals or leaders to make the most educated decision. And I know a number of folks that were impacted that were put on a list by their former management and didn’t even report to that person when the LR happened. My IPF number was exceptionally high this last bonus round, like VERY high, and I was impacted. I know tons of others impacted that haven’t even been with Cisco for 3 months. It really was executed poorly. Not to mention the CX side that has EGREGIOUS gaps in the delivery model, the 700 reqs they said were out there for the taking are not out there at all, and the thousands of customers that will rip out every bit of Cisco product because they are losing valuable resources for their success. Just a few minor issues with all of this though.
