Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Lordstown layoffs threaten the very survival of the town

Kick it the stomach indeed. I’m sure there is a similar story in every affected location, but this story about the layoffs and possible shutdown at Lordstown really painted a good picture of how the company couldn’t care less about its workers, much less about the communities that emerged around its plants. Lordstown is a town that’s heavily depending on it’s GM plant for more than 50 years. What’s going to happen if the plant closes, what can 1600 families look forward to, other than relocation in the pursuit for new work?

Probably what happened to Flint, Michigan.

GM takes pride in building customers for life. Do your part, by not falling for their games or gimics, and becoming advocates against, for life. Sure, you can exchange skillset and talent for hire, but don't take it over and above, unless the company offers this in return.

It's a fair handshake. Nothing more, nothing less.

That's always an issue for towns/cities relying on one industry.

You must have missed the last 50 years. It's not exactly a new story.
