Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What Now???

I have been selling cell phones for over 10 years now. I have worked for T-Mobile, Sprint, and now Verizon. I am a SOLUTIONS SPECIALIST. As we all know our current commission structure does not allow for us to make the same money that we Made before. So I'm just asking, what are some good recommendations for a new job searches?

@WQWYS9P-5tlt are we supposed to pretend technical people aren't a rupee a dozen?

Get yourself an education, something technical. Sales people are a dime a dozen.

Verizon has followed the same path as big box retail has, they sell a product so induced into the lives of average people that there is no longer a need for sales ppl, or massive distribution through traditional means, amazon will take over the void, Verizon retail reps will end up much like Walmart reps. “May I take your order please”. To much of which is already here.

I suggest you take some of those sales skills and apply it to highland products. Study and their buyers and make a run at it,

I worked for Verizon 22 years, back when the boom began. The lack of anything new the last 10 years too it’s toll...

You can’t buy your way to prosperity by purchasing failing business models like that attempted with aol, yahoo. Etc. I said many years ago they needed to become a content provider but they lacked the vision or expertise. Anyone can be a pipeline.

Here is my bet, Google will purchase them after the cut all the bloat. Makes sense for a content provider to own the vehicle.....

@WQWYS9P-1agy Tho doth protest to much. The iQ levels you describe are insufficient for trolling the interwebs. There's been some good research around it called "early interventions in reading"

The bigger issue for store sales is sort by price with door to door delivery. I'd rather see VZ take a serious look at the increasing irrelevance of B2B sales headcount in a changing world. Store reps work, if only in that they're the customer contact surface of a faceless utility, they have value. There is plenty of fat to cut elsewhere before we get the bone in brick and mortar.

Lol at all the trolls on here, from the original poster to the dumb comments. If I combined your iqs and multiplied it by 10, it would still be under 60.

Verizon has correctly figured out that no one is willing to go without a cell phone these days, and churn is going to largely be between the remaining big 3 and their MVNOs. The days of subscriber growth are largely done, and with it the need to incentivize retail level numbers.

You are dead on it is time to move on this comp plan is c-ap. The high performers are leaving all that will be left are millennial slackers and under performers. The CEO will turn vzw into the next Sears.
