Getting rid of WFH.. I'm confused..

It's literally hilarious the justification to get rid of wfh is collaboration. We don't have meetings or work as a team. My boss hasn't talked to me in a month in a half and if I ask for assistance or guidance I get ignored. What a joke..

My groups one day a week work from home were all denied today :( it was so nice to save the money and headache of an hour and a half commute even for just one day. Are they trying to make thing ls bad on purpose?

I know for a fact that people were changing their online status to look like they were at their computers when they were actually not even at home sometimes. Or you could see a big drop in emails being sent on WFH days. I agree with the previous post that WFH was majorly abused by management and others.

meanwhile....the pot stirrer making the previous posts is the same schlub always in the office walking around, socializing, talking sports, weather, travel, food, David Hasselhoff...anything at all unrelated to actual customer activity. Exactly why those of us that worked from home to focus always put in extra time - to compensate for colleagues like this that are in the office causing distraction and drama for attention they don't receive at home.

Our group told us what to put for WFH request and we did it. We all got denied and told no more WFH. I’m glad. People abused it soooo bad. They are lazy and mad that they can’t screw around anymore.

They are getting rid of WFH because BNYM is going to get bought soon by a bigger company and new owners/ceo don’t want to find out 95% of the company they bought is at home 50% of the time.

Use your heads for a change and think.

I believe the WFH program was abused in a major way. I personally have observed such. Cudos for dumping it! Get the lazy bums into the office where, at least, they can’t watch Springer.

I work from home two days a week and leave at 2pm on Fridays. I basically get paid full time to do 2.5 days of work, cuz on the days I am "working" from home, I am not even working that hard. I answer a few emails in my PJ's and they tell me this is the new normal. I don't think some people even know what its like to work 40-50 hours and feel great about all they accomplished. And I can't really complain or they will find out how little I have to do.

For now, I'm just following the WFH herd, but believe me, my job could be done 2 days in office for half of what their paying me and I make great money, well over 6 figures and a bonus/stock.

I find it funny that we have this global company with people working in probably 20+ different cities/countries being so uptight about working remotely all of a sudden. In a world where wfh is only becoming more popular and the norm, we are going back to the 1990s.

I'm sorry to say, but if your boss hasn't talked to you in a month and a half, and you aren't getting any real guidance to do your job, you are quite likely on the near-future layoff list. Just a hunch from past experience there.

So far, all the WFH requests in my area got approved. We only applied for max two days a week from home, and the managers figured out which reasons were more likely to be approved and worked with us on filling in the comments section of the form.
