Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Thousands of jobs will be eliminated

Welcome to 21st century where AI and robotics process automation will make you less and less relevant at BNYM and pretty much every where in finance if you've been paying attention.

Charlie is just starting. He will eliminate thousands of jobs. If you think I'm kidding then give me a reason why he should keep people around when the economy is on fire and company financial perf is like in a recession. Wait till a recession hits. Charlie can't wait.

Well said, @YKuUKVG-6vac.

Wow can't believe my comment on another post got it's own thread. Thank you vac.

My pov is still the same. Automation will replace you. Why? Because it can. If you are doing repetitive work everyday RPA is coming for you.

True is not here tomorrow but don't blink you'll miss it. The future is face to face. Teach your children that. Nurses, speech therapists, financial advisors, psychologists, anything involving human emotional needs irreplaceable by robots. Human emotion irreplaceable by a robot. Those jobs will be the last to be done by robots. Chances are Terminator will be here before then.

Good luck!

Nobody jumps from mid 90’s technology to a workplace disruptive AI paradigm in a few years. Just not seeing it.

Welcome to the world where you are tracked and monitored and subject to the emotionless, in other words sociopathic control imposed by machine learning, that is mindless, and done without reasoning or logical nor has as its base inputs for encoding human aspirations, ethics or morals, nor can reasons for decision be told. It is hood at controlling machines but I do not think it us tyrannical and punishing for apply them to control humans life. Executives I fear just see $$$ but do not understand the science enough to know its dangers and impact on human beings psyche, sense of autonomy and personal ability to take care of oneself, sense of personal contribution and worth, freedom, free will, initiative, unusual talents and/or actual life circumstances in a random and uncontrolled world we live in.

Congratulations! Your torment is finally over!

I feel bad for the unsuspecting person that backfills your role (nvm - this company can't get anyone to take these jobs. Even contractors aren't accepting the gigs.)

Enjoy your next chapter and much success : )

Finally got out. I have been trying for a good year. I am in technology. None of the big companies worked out and ended up with a smaller company but salary, benefits, and perks were better than the larger companies. Good luck to everyone. Im in The Pittsburgh location.

I wouldn't be so sure ... with the inept crew and management in technology on the 14th floor, I think you can expect plenty of manual work for the foreseeable future.

The goal here is automation. This industry is dead for operations going forward. It will probably take BNY longer than most, based on past performance so no panic yet. Robots are taking over, only job left will be as a Terminator. I'll be back!

Um. Yeah, not worried so much. On the bus ride home my phone doesn't even do half the things promised we would be able to do by 2019 because of the inability of these supposed titans of industry to actually deliver on all their hype. 5G and all your AI robotics are just that...hype
