Trust me, the world is better outside of Oracle. I got riffed last November, having escaped the PIP after almost 9 years there.
As the saying goes, “Oracle eats their own”. This is just more evidence of the same...
After leaving, I read a whole lot about just how “sniveling” the company is. Regarding putting top sales people on PIP at age 64 1/2 to avoid paying retirement, the 400M lawsuit for favoring the hiring cheap labor from Asia, to discrimination lawsuits because Oracle doesn’t favor women or minorities. On and on... now I realize, Oracle’s always been this way.
Oracle has propping up its stock through buybacks using their cash reserves for quite some time now, instead of growing through healthy market share gains, and they can’t continue using this crutch for much longer.
Lastly, Oracle’s Cloud business is <10% of global market share. Compared to Amazon 35+ Microsoft, 20+ Google 20+ and IBM in the teens. Alibaba is 2. Funny thing, ALL of the above are growing their market share. Except Oracle. I believe their share is shrinking. Its a “sickness”. It’s an existential struggle. Look at it on the bright side, be glad you’re out now.
