Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Putting something positive in here

I read this site often, I’m not sure why, I guess I think I’ll find insight on what’s to come. But it’s always negative. I’m a team leader in the ma region. Maybe I’m lucky? I have a great team. We are understaffed and I have support to hire and I work shifts every single day to make things work. We don’t all get along, there are so many divides to the team.... yet we work together to complete the day and make sure we look good. I’ve worked in stores where the morale was totally down and I can totally understand where most of you are coming from. But please, get out of that store. You may change your mind with good leadership ( dept and store) and a whole store that actually cares for each other more than they care about ots and numbers.

It’s out there!

And if you’re a Tl struggling to manage your team- appreciate them!! Don’t just say it at a store meeting. Say it weekly, do something for them. Donuts on Friday’s, free cakes on Christmas, they do a lot for you.

That’s it. I’m sure I’ll get negative comments and that’s okay.

It's hard to write something positive while you work at wtm/amazon.

I've been here for years. While not all of them have been good overall it's a great place to work. The opportunity to move up is available to anyone. I've seen that at every store I've worked in. If you think you can't , well maybe that's on you.

our store leadership only works the floor when the ec’s show up and say ok what else you need.

I am very happy being a Team member but you Mr Team Leader from the last comment here you don’t fool me with your free donuts is all a show as soon the Store Leader walks out of the door your department becomes a zhit Show. I wish Leadership would realize that u are just a fonny Stop pretending.

If you think you know who this is ( and you most likely don’t) then why are you even there? Why haven’t you left yet? As much as leadership is the problem, you aren’t helping. People who are complaining and venting, just leave! If you aren’t happy then find something else. Don’t blame people and continue to work for them.

Honestly, for me, transferring from grocery to seafood has made a world of difference in my opinion of WFM. I love everyone I work with and it's a great learning experience. When I worked in grocery in a high volume store nobody really cared about their jobs and the TLs obviously only cared about going home at the end of the day, but my SFDTL goes the extra mile to make his department look good even if it means working off the clock. It s---s that he has to do that but I respect that he's willing. Meat and seafood are their own beast I feel like. Anyway, my point is your experience/opinion of WFM varies widely depending on your store and team, and respective leadership.

Collect your check and go home don’t let WF consume your life. If you didn’t show up tomorrow somebody else would or they will just hire someone else to do your job.42

I think I know who you are, and if so, you are the reason we hate coming to work. Despite you trying to pretend the department is "fun", morale is at an all time low and we hate our jobs. Donuts do not make up for being taken advantage of daily. But hopefully I'm wrong and you're a great TL. Who knows

I am not a “ masshole”- if you are meaning I am from the state of Massachusetts. And if you mean to cover up the a--hole word- maybe I am that. I don’t know. I haven’t been called that recently. But that’s up for debate. I’ve also never fired anyone so I’m actually really proud of that. I’m open about attendance issues Tms May have, and anything else. I’m not out to get anyone. And that’s the point of this post- this is a good company. There are good people out there. Not everyone is out to get you. If you’re unhappy please go to another store if you’re in good standing. It may turn everything around. But! The a--hole comment is still up for debate depending on who you talk to. That I am sure of.

My experience as a whole has been positive compared to other retail jobs. I think most who come to this site to complain actually care about WFMs success. The reason we are aggravated is because we see bad decisions being made about something we care about. It's very frustrating to watch things happen that we have little control over so there is comfort knowing there are others who feel the same way. Since it's the internet, there will also be a few trolls.

Thank you! I struggle sometimes but over all I love this company! I started as a cashier and I am now in leadership. This was a part rime job for me and I fell in love. It’s so different than when I started but my team keeps me going. If you’re struggling then get out. Transfer. Give it a second shot and make your decision on things after that. The worst things can be handled better with good leadership.
