Overpaying professors is not one of the issues here. Instructors at Cci/Everest Online, make $1900 per twelve week course. When I teach an on-ground course, at other schools, I make between $2000 and $2500 per course, so Cci is barely competitive. I've been a Full-Time Faculty member at Cci, teaching 4 courses per term and performing other administrative duties, and the pay is $54,000 a year. We all have master's degrees, I have a doctorate and 15 years experience. No instructors are getting rich at Cci. The examples cited in that article are rare exceptions, 99% of us are not celebrity faculty raking in six figures. We are hard working professionals, who are not very well-compensated given our education and experience. Every instructor I know at Cci stays because they enjoy helping this very high-risk population of students.
