Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

New Email-another attachment reminds us to "preserve docs"

As you know, Corinthian is currently under investigation by a number of state and federal government agencies. We are cooperating with these authorities and are confident in the choices each of our employees has made to comply with our obligations to students, the law and to each other. During investigations like these, employees often have questions. Below is some helpful information that may answer your questions. I am always available to discuss these in greater detail and to answer any specific questions you might have.

Document Preservation

It is critical that during the course of the investigations, you must not remove or destroy any documents, papers, electronic files or other such materials in compliance with the document retention memorandum circulated on August 13, 2014 (and accompanying this memo). Routine or otherwise innocent destruction of documents may be misinterpreted by the authorities—thus we ask that you carefully re-review the August 13th memo. If you have any questions about document preservation, please contact me at the above numbers or addresses.

Requests for Information

Any requests by government agents for documents or information should be reported immediately to the Law Department or me. These requests will be handled through legal counsel. The same guidance applies to any contact by news media, reporters or investigators.

Requests for Interviews or Conversations

Government agents or lawyers may contact you at your office, home or even on your cell phone. They may appear unannounced and may request to interview you. You are free to talk to them but are not required to submit to an interview. You have the right to tell them that you would first like to speak with an attorney. You have the right to meet and seek advice from an attorney before you make a decision about speaking with the government. If you ultimately decide to speak with government agents, you also have the right to choose a time and place that is convenient for you.

Having an attorney with you at a meeting with government agents can help avoid any confusion that you may have from questions asked by the agents. Notes taken by an attorney can also help minimize later misquoting of your statements by the agents. The School will arrange for an attorney to advise you if it becomes necessary and you desire to speak with one. Please contact me and I will make the appropriate arrangements.

We all regret the distraction and concern that may be caused by any government agency or its agents, but we at the Campus Support Center and in the Law Department are here to support you. If you are contacted by government representatives, please let us know.

We appreciate your cooperation and dedication to serving all our students. Hang tough.

So if we meet with cci's legal team, will they charge us?

277, I wouldn't worried about getting sued for that. CCI has big enough legal fees.

"Hang tough"? Sorry Calhoun, I first contacted ED and the CA AG months ago. I'm still working for you and collecting documentation. No, I will not hang tough for you, you evil bottom feeder. Some of us are decent and are doing the right thing. We're not stupid enough to be scared into thinking we'll get the blame...for anything. Enough of us have been feeding the regulatory bodies info that (1) they KNOW the rot comes from the very top, and (2) no way are they going to let CCi continue, in any shape or form, in the U.S. Have fun in Canada, hosers! That is, any of you who don't go to prison!

Why would anyone post an internal email to this site. As employees we all have that email. By posting the entire email you're setting yourself up for legal action against you. Just saying

I agree with 263. The trolls are really spending time making crap up. They take these internal emails and make more crap up. That just makes it even harder to find out what info is true and what's not. I don't think that poster meant we shouldn't have conversation about it. I've been reading this board a long time. Whenever an internal email gets posted, the trolls come to feed like deer at a corn stand. I think getting defensive and rude isn't the answer. But maybe understand what people are trying to say would be a better way to handle responses. Comments have gotten rude and mean the last few days. That just drives off any actual emotes, leaving this site with no real information. People are afraid to post when a response to them is just being jerks.

It bugs me that it's ok to have an opinion as long as it's exactly the same as the poster. If it's not, everyone starts bullying. Idiots.

263, um. Yeah. You single mindeds kind of worry me. How about just open up the conversation by asking what people think of an email they already have in their possession? Oh, and if you are worried about your future , don't. There isn't one with CCI. In 4 months they close or go to teach out. Teach out will be skeleton crews for a few months until they close. And if they sell, the college that buys us are going to dump everyone and hire much cheaper employees or use their own. There IS no future.

Hey, 35263...You are right. I shouldn't post internal e-mails that can start conversation and actually provide us with some useful information. Instead, I should wait for management to provide information to me that will affect the future of myself and my family. Oh, wait.... We are posting here, 35263 BECAUSE we are not being adequately informed by management. Instead, we get random "in case you need an attorney" emails, that have come weeks after "we are fine" e-mails. So, screw you. I'll post what needs to be posted to keep as many people as informed as possible.

OP, I appreciate the internal email post here. Because I can't reply to all on webmail and say this: I cannot WAIT to supply my records to the any regulatory authority who is interested. They show over and over that CCi has been intentionally unethical in a SYSTEMIC AND WIDESPREAD manner which was incentivized by our top "leadership". And I won't need CCi's attorney. There are plenty of new legal wonks out there who would act on my behalf in a more effective way, pro bono.

I wish people would stop posting internal emails here. Employees see them from work email. Here everyone does and them more troll lies and rumors start up.

250, great point! I was wondering what they'll say if anyone contacts them to tell them what they are going to tell the government. That seems really hinky to require that. But I won't go to them first if I know the company broke the law. Thankfully one of my best friends practices business law.

Can it get any more absurd? "We" aren't the ones breaking the laws, "they" (mgmt/Jack) did. Watch out, I but they start blaming the employees and claiming they didn't know anything about it......run, run away, run fast, but don't stay in this mess.

Geez, "if you need an attorney we will supply you one." If I did something wrong (which I didn't) why in hell would I use on of the CCI Attorney's. Looks like they are preparing for the employees to take the blame for their shit. I am gone in a couple weeks and would love to talk to a GA or DOE about the shit that has been going on.

More than 80% of mine are failing this term. There has got to be something up with that. Perhaps anyone who knows better has already moved on.

743:I fail nearly 80% of my students each class, each term. I do not give our asses in classes grades they do not earn. They earn an F, they get an F from me. Sorry to burst your bubble with the highly inaccurate part of your statement.

As an instructor, I have not done anything but be honest. As a result, I have nothing to hide. I would be happy to talk with legal to show them exactly what kind of dumb*ss students I have had to put up with, their poor quality of work (if they bothered to participate) and the F grades they earned. I will also share emails and Talisma showing that Outreach is a sham since they keep a student in the class regardless of the fact that they never login. Legal needs to see the types of asses' the admission sales reps get into classes

To everyone in management and everyone who has falsified records for some reason or another;

you have destroyed the lives of so many, including those you keep insisting benefit from your

ridiculous ideas of what a good education is.

The party that has lined your pockets is over.

The education you promised is a laughing stock.

And it is over for you and the nimrods you placed in positions of power.

Your workers have cried foul, complaints have been reported, and your statements telling us to hang tough will be laughed at by many for years to come.

I preserved documents before I got RIF'd recently - made hard copies and sent instructional emails to my home email. And I then sent them to the Dept of Ed just a few days ago. Contents: falsification of placement data! I'm just 1 of "over 100 additional resources dedicated to (covering up the falsification of placement data)". Bu Bye Jack!

Everything is fine, but if you think you might need an attorney, we will supply you with one, and everything you say will be reported back, or our attorney will advise you not answer certain questions.
