I have never seen such a thing in the many years working here. A change in a major school date on the calendar affecting faculty and students announced late in the previous quarter was very unusual thing. Last Thursday, it was announced that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is also a holiday and school will be closed. Faculty are required to carefully schedule the entire quarter. Taking this week's class meeting time out of the schedule is very disrespectful to faculty teaching on Wednesday. We all like a day off, but this really throws a wrench in the system when it gets announced AFTER THE AFFECTED CLASSES HAVE MET the previous week. Faculty are human garbage. Enjoy your extra day.
Anyway- I'm interested in reading speculation on the reason behind this. It seems so unstable and capricious. The kids get worried when drunk daddy brings home a pony.
