The past 10 years the only issue discussed in Qualcomm is if the layoffs will trigger the WARN act. Where is the innovation for the next big thing. Everything in this company became CFO decisions on how many mils will cut from each business units based on some spreadsheet calculations. This is not Dr Irwin's Jacobs company any more when the innovation was the every day top discussion across all the business units. It became the lawyers' and CFO's company.
What is the next big thing in this company these days? Nobody knows. In all hands meetings they refer to innovation initiatives like science projects in high school, without commitment and vision. The 20% margin that Murthy is talking about kills every innovation in this company. Firing people with 30 Billions in the bank doesn't make sense for me. I hope the BOD will reexamine the mission and the strategies of the executive leadership and act. Company without vision and commitment to the innovation soon becomes another failed statistic. People that are looking for innovation they better look somewhere else because more layoffs are coming and there is no big projects in this company that can redeploy people as was happening the last 22 years that I have in this company.
