Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Recent Layoffs attributed to losing a large contract

The irony - People who were responsible to lose the contract are rewarded with continuing employment and perhaps bonus while all people not even remotely connected are fired.

CEO and their cronies - "I take full responsibility and willing to sacrifice 2500 wonderful and talented colleagues for my stupid mistakes"

@a8 didn't the EEOC sued them in NJ for disability discrimination last year? I would have been surprised if they won a contract there after that lawsuit.

@dx I did not see any. Not sure how they avoided them.

Did anyone see any Warn Notices posted for their state? It is like the deliberately spread them out to avoid having to file.

This NJ contract win in school assessment was last spring and is not responsible for these layoffs or the results for 2025 with the market. It is likely more that overall the company didn’t make its numbers across the business and the AI forecast isn’t as rosy as being purported.

@a8 and then they let everyone go from vue that they need to win these type of contracts back.
