Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM getting younger by the day !

This has become a common theme. Everyday on LinkedIn, several folks with head full of thick black hair announce joining IBM. And then there are those with gray hair and thinning hair who publish the post about the departure.

@b6 What can go wrong ?

Everything - it's called Murphy's Law ! "If something can go wrong, it will go wrong "

The "Indian At The Top", Arvind, is a conman and crook, not unlike Trump. You can be sure someone is getting a kickback from the $1 billion that has been allocated by the US government to IBM for Quantum Development which will never happen in the 5 years that were mentioned. Just more lies and pie in the sky.

Right, Mr. IBM India HR liar-bot rage-bait troll shill spanky-pants id--t loser parasite ? Are you a Tamil crook like Arvind ?

@c8 sure, IBM India HR liar-bot rage-bait troll shill spanky-pants id--t loser parasite.

Your uncle, Arvind to "the Indian dog at the top" is a schmuck and your are another following in his footsteps.

What technical talents and corporate intellectual capital have you ever created and demonstrated to your peers and your leaders that will bring in IBM billions of dollars ? Any id--t can get an IBM badge these days. If you haven't got anything to show, its because you are a simpleton wa-ker like your Indian Uncle Arvind who can only buy companies to earn a bigger bonus. And you have nothing more than hate, bile, vomit and spleens for those people who call you out for your garbage.

"I joined IBM in 2025, and I've had opportunities to learn, contribute, and lead projects. That's the whole point of investing in the next generation of talent."

ouch...this is a very grave situation indeed for customers of IBM...now they have band 6 employees lead the projects...what else to expect when the senior level folks have been piped out...you will perfect for repeating the client zero fiasco at client's site...we are all looking forward to the news of IBM losing contracts and customers because of putting inexperienced employees in charge of the projects...we don't think the seasoned employee who you replaced had a chance to even train you given you are so d-mb and arrogant

Youe rage posting, spewing thick hot bile and hate just makes you such a petty bitter person. I know I will be a band 7 because I upskill, contribute and I am available for more work if needed. I want IBM to succeed which means I succeed

reducing Arvind to "the Indian at the top" doesn't address a single business decision. His nationality has nothing to do with whether IBM's strategy succeeds or fails.

As for new hires, every experienced employee was once a new hire. Dismissing people because they joined recently ignores the fact that today's new hires become tomorrow's technical leaders. I joined IBM in 2025, and I've had opportunities to learn, contribute, and lead projects. That's the whole point of investing in the next generation of talent.

I worked at IBM in the 20-teens when it was a startup. I guess management's trying to go back to those days.

@ba Feel ya there. I’ve clinched my teeth watching totally unprepared people presenting demos and presentations to customers. This really needs to change.

If someone has to rely on speaker notes to present to a customer or partner, then they should not be allowed to present. Seriously hold yourself accountable and learn the material before you get in front of a customer. I do not career what field you are in or whom you work for. This is not high school or middle school where you are giving a speech

IBM Indian top dog and his cabal have a winning strategy to deliver Quantum computing in 3 to 5 years. IBM has the tools needed:
1- Alvind vision, What can go wrong ?
2- Recent hires like @a9 with no experience, but super Think40 learners and badges earners. What can go wrong ?
3- Bob, the wonder tool that solves every problem. In fact, Bob is better and more reliable than Aladdin magical lamp. What can go wrong ?
4- The Army of executives, masters of PowerPoint presentations. IBM stock price rises, rises, rises ... . What can go wrong ?
In the hand of the Indian at top, everything is fine. You can believe it, Alvind said it.

IBM has lowered it's standards so far they are now hiring former bartenders and Ulta cosmetic sales people to go to GSS Global Sales school and emerge as "the smartest people on the planet". They are hiring for tattoos, skin color, s-x. SMH.

Here is IBM CEO Arvind saying IBM is hiring by race and skin color to hit executive bonus's.

The IBM new hires are funny to watch and talk to. They are like Gen 1 AI bots where when you ask them a question, they sp-t back an answer that is simply a rewording or the question you asked them. Very much like the troll in here.

I have seen them be put in front of customers far too early trying to present something and they simply open a Powerpoint and begin reading verbatim the speaker notes to the customer. I have seen customers walk out, laugh, ask to cancel or resched etc.

It's because IBM's main business nowadays (other than selling mainframes to legacy clients) is providing low cost bodyshop labor.

@af Hateful ? Sure, IBM India HR liar-bot rage-bait troll shill spanky-pants id--t loser parasite, but are you better ? If so, how and why ?

Can you give us a summary of the video of your mother and sister with your first line who will give you an "imminent" promotion to Band 7 ? How imminent is imminent ? Is it the next hour, next day, week, month or even 5 years from now ? How do you know your Sugar Daddies won't make a tough decision on you ? LOL

@ag

I have been with IBM for a year and it's going great. I have learned new skills, achieved badges and I am leading a Watson X team and i know Band 7 is imminent. All I see here is negativity. I do feel bad for people who were RA'd but businesses need to make tough decisions and it's never easy especially for executives making tough decisions.

@a9 - You said, "I'll judge IBM by my own experience, not by someone else's worst-case prediction."
Using your own word, why would anyone believe anything you spout about your experience at IBM, while at the same time, people on this site have some totally different experiences, being scammed by the slimy, liar and useless executives.

That's an awfully cynical prediction. I joined IBM in 2025, and my experience has been the opposite. I've worked with talented colleagues, had opportunities to grow, and I'm leading a team in the watsonx Challenge. That's not what "being dumped into the trash" looks like.

Every company has turnover, restructurings, and difficult decisions. But declaring that every young employee is doomed in 3–5 years isn't analysis—it's speculation. I'll judge IBM by my own experience, not by someone else's worst-case prediction.

@OP and those young fools with heads of thick black hair joining IBM are unceremoniously dumped out by IBM in 3 to 5 years into the trash.

After all, Sugar Daddy Arvind has to get his maximum bonus payout as long as he is running the company into the ground. He doesn't want competition from some young buck, eating his bonus for lunch.
