Thread regarding Optum layoffs

severance agreement

has anyone had any luck with negotiating a severance agreement with optum? i was laid off while on protected leave, and the severance agreement is laughable.

@c4 not all of us have spent our whole life here. Some only have a few years in. Let’s not make it competition

@b6 I guess a more fair amount. I was with the company for 10 years and only given 6 weeks

@OP The only right answer given your circumstances is to consult with an employment attorney. Don’t forget to bring your employment agreement with you to review arbitration and million other clauses. Plus copy of severance policy.

They should get more severance if they were laid off while on a protected leave.

What in particular are you trying to negotiate?

Typically severance packages, unless you are a c suite executive, are NOT negiotable. They are set/fixed at the time of employment and the terms are the same for everyone. Based on pay grade and length of employment.
