Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Calling all Laid Off Team Members -- Legal Representation Success?

Opening a thread to provide insights to those who have been impacted by the latest RIF at CDW. By now, we should have received our severance packages and the clock has begun for the review. Very clearly in the documentation, it states "you have been advised in writing to seek legal counsel concerning the terms of this General Release before signing it and have had ample time to do so...".

Has anyone been able to seek legal counsel? What is the general feedback from counsel on the General Release and any other terms of the separation?

@a3 How did you filter hits by "Severance Negotiation?" I'm not seeing that option at the site after choosing state of Illinois.

If you are over 50, absolutely seek legal advice. CDW has gotten away with age discrimination for too long by using the threat of pulling your severance.

@a2 What were the grounds? I have a ton of lawyer friends. I have a disability and this was completely out of the blue for me.

@a3 I found a lawyer handy as a "just in case" option. What I did: If you are in illinois use the NELA (National Employment Lawyers Association), then you can search by practice area "Severance Negotiation" make sure you let them know of any deadlines you have.

I cannot comment because it was part of the deal. All I can say is that you should seek legal representation. It paid off HUGE for me.
