Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Eisp for union I heard is not going to be As BiG as was the rumor

Sounds like this offer is going to very disappointing in its size and numbers offered. That coupled with fact if it’s offered too late the rate is only going to get worse affecting the size of the lump later in year.Im so confused on what is taking so long for an Eisp offer for union associates.I know they have a bunch of warn notices for management layoffs maybe they are waiting till after that no clue why.I was just hoping for something really Big and enhanced

@wy Your second liner knows how many people in verizon want to leave across the entire footprint? Burrrrrrrrpp.

@wy Your second liner must not be aware that with a four year contract extension coming and having to pay for medical in retirement that almost nobody will be leaving without an enhanced offer.

I was told today by my second level the offer is not going to be the enhanced one because so many want to leave and will not be across the board but only to select individuals

@f4 an eisp makes it possible for people to leave, pays off any outstanding debt so they can retire with a clean slate. Otherwise, they’re just going to hang around until they’re ready.

@OP It will be bigly. People are saying it will the greatest and bigliest of all time. All paid for from private donors. No tax payer money will be used at all.

Given all the large cuts over the last two years of management jobs what is the guesstimate of union eisp. Mine is a 5% cut in each state from Mass down to Virginia. Some maybe a little less but about 1500 techs total they want to leave across footprint.

@eg It's pretty ignorant to tell others they should retire. You aren't walking in their shoes. There are many reasons why many are forced or choose to stay. Grow up.

@es There will always be another contract no matter how cr-ppy it is. The point probably is if you can retire , go and enjoy it. An offer doesn’t make the financials that much better, it is just a little sweetener. Guys saying if I don’t get an offer, I will just stay 4 more years is odd because they probably really wanna leave but are obsessed with trying to squeeze every nickel from VZ

@e8 the standard IPP isn't going to get anybody to retire unless they were already 99% on the verge of anyway. #1 -The retirees now have to pay into the medical until Medicare age. #2 - These people now have a four year contract extension. It would make 1000% better financial sense for the company to incentivize these people ASAP than pay for four more years.

@e2 Regardless of whatever any certified financial planner tells you, you’re cutting your annual income by as much as 60% when you retire.

This is patently untrue if you have planned for retirement since you started working. Remember, retirees no longer have FICA or Social Security withholding on their income. I've been saving since I was 21 and my lump sum was but a small portion of my overall investments. My "take home pay" is now $1000 more/month than when I was working. Retirement is great and I recommend everyone try it! Life is too short and your health only generally gets worse with every passing year, especially with the stress of a job.

Bottom line, if you need an offer to retire, then you aren't ready to retire. An offer would just be icing on the cake.

@eg yeah people don’t like to hear it but it’s true. It’s sad hearing about people dying before they can retire. Stop wasting precious years of your life. Move to Florida, pick up a new hobby, go to Cheesecake Factory on a random Wednesday without having to worry about work the next morning. Seriously

So i completely understand everyone had a different financial situation. But my issue is with the many people in associates positions that we know are quite well off !!Some that may not be as well off but would end up equal if retired. Most of us would love to retire given their circumstances. But yet instead of leaving going to enjoy what ever maybe left of their time on watt they stay here some come up with excuses like what would I do or well I don’t ki-l myself here I have a contract for 4 more or the old I have to pay medical until Medicare .Come on it don’t make a difference go retire enjoy life enjoy sitting on your deck with a cup in morning or taking a drive to sight see .Just totally unbelievable group especially the age category of around 56-70 .Listen if your tht age and you have young kids it means you went with someone much younger so at this point send them out to work till they reach your age .Probably a good reason for poster child of not cradle robbing

I agree that if there is an offer it will not be as big predicted earlier this year. I also believe the reason for that is there’s a lot of people jumping ship because the GATT rate will break the 5% mark as of July 1st. The increased gatt will get people off the payroll without the company having to declare a surplus in every faa. According to forecast.*rg the GATT will start going down gradually towards the end of the year. January 2027 projection is 4.29% with an accuracy of .14 plus or minus. Never did understand people jumping ship because their lump goes down by $20k. Using the 4% rule you could draw $800 annual off that $20k. Big whoop! Every year you stay your making more than you could ever draw off a lump sum rolled into the market. Regardless of whatever any certified financial planner tells you, you’re cutting your annual income by as much as 60% when you retire. If you aren’t ready to retire don’t panic over increased GATT rates. There used to be a thought process that once you had a portfolio of a million dollars you were set. For easy math if you were lucky enough for your lump to be say $800k, your safe draw is $32k a year using the 4% model. $800k certainly isn’t most people’s situation especially with the high gatt rate. Hang tough if you aren’t ready!

@c5 Pathetic loser? Making another half a million $$ or more over the next four years with a no layoff clause doesn't sound too bad to me. Jealous much? "Don't hate me cause I'm beautiful."

A retirement incentive offer is nice but waiting around for years to maybe get a little extra cash to retire is crazy. The next offer may not even be in your faa or job title. Time is irreplaceable. The more time you can spend retired as opposed to working everyday is a win. Don't waste years working while you are healthy if you can retire. Many techs are also losing money by NOT retiring.

I heard $1,000,000 per year til 65, free medical til 65 including pet insurance and a free subscription to Uber eats. All can apply but 2 field techs and 1.5 COT's with the TTA title will be accepted.

No bridge to Medicare would make any EISP a non starter. Dan is going to have a workforce full of 64 and a half year olds if this problem is not addressed.
