Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

I hate everything about my job

I hate this job and this company. I'd leave if I could, but the market is awful. The only silver lining is that layoffs happen all the time, so I might get out with severance eventually.

@j7 , remember when you used to get a gift on your job anniversaries. Or your manager takes the team out for a team dinner as a reward.

@j2 , Agree. We don't need RTO, we just need to return to the nearest cafe for coffee.

They've been scaling back on the perks for years. Remember when they used to send chocolates for birthdays? It's been a slow progression toward minimalism for nearly two decades now.

@ht digital litter on the incomprehensible coffee machine is a key aspect of meaningful collaboration and better-togetherness

@gc you guys get COMPLIMENTARY SNACKS?!

Man my office su-ks then. The budget went to an overly complicated brewer that a good chunk of the office will not double check the screen on after making their drink before leaving.

@g5 In the office I'm supposed to attend, they seem to have removed the cookies and trail mix and potato chips and other complimentary snacky items, and they replaced them with cup o' noodles.

Now, I'm not complaining: I usually roll in badly hungover, and cup o' fu---n' noodles is exactly what the doctor ordered, but I cannot help wondering why the change.

I wouldn't be surprised if OT starts removing all the office plants and start charging employees for coffee and tea.

@b2 This is failure of imagination.

What about toasters? Furniture? Wall art? The lightbulbs from every third overhead fixture?

The possibilities are not endless, but there is far more than pencils, pens, and paperclips!
