Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

"Layoffs" are not true layoffs at SF

Just a heads-up... firings are commencing at a rapid rate in certain areas. If you have many years with the company and the expectations lately have shifted until they feel like heavy proverbial noose...wiggle out of there quick! You will get no warning. Just bam. Random day, random hour...they'll come for you.... and you are left with NOTHING. Just so relieved my Mom finally saw the light and already changed companies for her own coverages. She herself a retiree with many years of service at SF. People mean LESS THAN NOTHING to SF anymore.
Not that sad to be heading out to make my life better now; I am prepared to make changes and succeed despite that company trying to make me feel more useless every day. When I succeed wildly-and I WILL!- I will have them in mind....only in the most negative way possible.

@q9 I left for another insurance company. Got better benefits, less stress, and a pay boost over 15%. Thanks for the motivation, upper management. For years I voiced concerns about policies and processes as a top performer. I was told that if I wanted a better job or pay I could always look elsewhere. They were right.

Its a miserable place to work. Every email is a threat. Every Instruction comes with a threat. Everything is a negative accusation from stupid incompetent managers that have no claim experience. The work keeps piling on with reassignments from those that quit or get fired. More and more templates added to fill out which is slowing down the claim process is making it impossible for anyone to keep up. The stupid phone system that can't route calls correctly. I think someone sits around and tries to think of what else can we add or change to make them even more miserable. I also heard they're on a firing spree.

@hv 3 years for full vesting for the 401(k). That is per the 401(k) documents. I left a couple of months ago with less than 5 years experience and received the full 401(k) amount I had when I left.

@hs and you have to be here FIVE YEARS before you can leave and take the employer match. Never worked for a company that had 5 year cliff vesting. Three years is most common. Call Vanguard, not your TM.

Why are some of you complaining here when you can leave? I can understand if you have the pension, but alot of the the newer hires do not. I did not. I was there almost 3 years, had two bad, child like TMs, and quit and got 10k more plus pension and fully remote at Allstate. Theres blood in the water, people. Good injury cs are in demand. Stand tall and find your peace.

@fb And then you can get in trouble for not fixing it fast enough and put on a PIP! It's your claim now. Management knows what they're doing.

Everyday we get assignments rolled out from people that have left that had no clue what they were doing. Its a mess and total junk. The misery is real.

Yeah there seems to be 0 care or concern for customer facing roles. I will say they typically dont fire, which improves the company ridding it of maybe a poor worker, no those people are protected, they just make the role awful, reassign you by force and make the capable quit out of frustration. Its how you lose market dominance and its provable.

@b1 Every single day we're being asked to prioritize work assigned to other people and I can't work my own assigned work for almost half of each day. Then they will say we can't keep up but it's because they assign and assign and assign work to you but prevent you from being able to do it!

have worked at State Farm for 32 years and absolutely hate this place. Can't wait to leave! But I totally disagree with you! Your TM gives you tons of warnings, I have watched my TM warn people and warn people for months that expectations are being changed and people will be held to basic standards. Every month I have work other CS's work (same ones) that cannot keep up with their work, are always missing work and half arssss everything they do. These same people blame the TM, others around them and generally just cause extra work for everyone. I'm sure there are some "exceptions". but every TM I have worked for at SF, gives warnings and has multiple conversations with people before they PM you out the door! They do an Acton Plan. (which is reviewed by HR). they do a Drop File (which is reviewed by HR, they do a Shield Memo (which is reviewed by HR) then after all of that the employee if fired unless it is something like timecard forgery or some other major code of conduct violation. So no I do not buy into you it came out of nowhere delusion....sorry! Now I agree the jobs su-k and this is a POS company, but you either adapt, find a way to survive or leave! Your choice!
