Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Too many cuts

There were so many cuts lately that every person on my team now does the work of two people - if we're lucky! Some are doing even more. When will this end? When we start keeling over?

The org design is done. Now they are selecting the people for the roles followed by consultation. Expect to know by July 10.

@15c In the All hands meetings and general communications, they've made it clear they want to be done with this phase that is all about restructuring, getting rid of extra staff from the merger, etc... by/around July. They've also said that as of the last all hands, they're still not done with this phase and explicitly asked us to "assume good intentions".

That means if there's going to be more cuts, its coming soon. The fact that we're still seeing teammembers suddenly gone from various departments around the company as late as earlier this week says they're still cutting.

So yes, a good chunk of it is conjecture, but the lack of ANY communication from the excutives in these all hands or meetings that says "there will not be any more rifs, layoffs, rifs, etc; we're going to be focused on integration and growth" and instead is "please assume good intentions as we continue along this phase of the merger" says everything we need to know except who, where, what, and when.

@15c no one has a date. Changes are gonna be made in the next 5 weeks or so. The company has been pretty clear on that. But the severity is unknown.

@158 you all are just saying things but not really providing any real proof. I’m sure layoff is coming but can anyone actually provide some evidence other than hearsay and just throwing dates out there?

@14h probably closer to June 27th. Maybe even May. 2026 for certain.

IceCreamPrez is mostly right. But it is coming before July 27. Good luck to those left to pick up the slack.

They. Don't. Care.

So many more cuts are coming. People should realize that every team, unless you are touching retention efforts or supporting sales; you are at risk.

Cuts are coming. July 27. Large portions of teams are about to happen. If not large portions, with some cases; entire teams. Be on alert when asked to train someone in a different location. It is not for continuous business operations. It is because you are losing your job.

@OP it's not going to. We lost some of our team to a RIF and death we just did more. Now they are moving our jobs to the Philippines and we get to train them to do our job

In the technology all hands Ryan said to let him know if you are struggling with your work load and they can bring in contingent staff, contractors, or something. What are the chances that going directly to C level with these concerns will go well?

You do know that the more you "complete" they'll keep giving you more. Sometimes you have to set priorities, and be okay with missing targets. That will get their attention and hopefully, they can do something. Otherwise, they assume you'll manage to take care of it.

Keep documentation of your concerns around your lack of resources.

It will end about the time you all refuse to take on the additional work of your laid-off former colleagues.
