Just had manager discussion and was notified last day will be July 2. Normal cr-ppy US severance of 3 months. Went through the normal we're not picking people because of age and the 3 others RA'd in a small team were all of 45. One people was listed who is not being RA'd in that same age range... so, definitely older, more expensive people are being targeted.

@dw Perhaps you've forgotten that the first announcement was in the UK?
Just talk to a KD from India. They heard the news about layoffs but not happening to anyone their yet.
@dc who told you the company will be bought soon
@dr Are you at US? So far no news from India or Europe yet.
I just got informed by my manager that I am also laid off.
@dc who do you think will be catching the kn--e?
@dc Is it One on One meeting? Or a mass conference call?
Layoff announcements just starting in US....take care of your families...difficult time but this company could be bought soon...
@d5 Yep - I'd had needed to be clueless to not have seen I was already targeted in Dec. It was more personal with a clueless upline than even being one of the more expensive resources. I'd have preferred more time, but I think I've a path that will replace in salary fairly easily even without a job search.
@cm Thanks - at 60+, job prospects and even responses "at all" from applications are minimal. I led the tech ecosystem of about a dozen platforms for a shared services area that every employee in Kyndryl uses daily. There is no backfill. I owned/managed what normally would have been minimally 3 or 4 people. Will be interesting to see when they realize what had been managed proactively before things broke now gets broke before anyone sees the issue and has to figure out how to fix.
have a sudden meeting with manager later this morning assuming im getting laid off (thank god), will update afterwards.
Sorry for anyone affected i am fortunate to be in a position to want the layoff but never fun to be forced out of a job.
Sorry to hear the news OP. Are you on delivery team?
The 3 months is cr-p, yet still better than the 1 month I got when IBM RA'd me several years ago (after 20+ years). I'm hoping for early retirement now and desiring an RA but we all know that means I'll never be picked.
Hoping you can find something else right now in this low hire environment. Wishing you the best of luck.
1000% anyone who has been with the company for a long time and is expensive resources through salary increases over the years is at top risk
Sorry to hear it. I hope it turns out to be the start of something great for you
