I heard a team in the drilling department somehow kept their remote privileges. Must be nice!

Cheaper? You’re in luck! Devon notoriously under pays staff and compensates by allowing casual dress policy, Thunder tickets (not floor seats, obviously), and remote work, wait, not anymore.

The market in Houston isn’t great. Most places are tight in budgets and wanting cheaper help

Hmm, yeah. 100s if not a few thousand displaced workers in Houston from this same industry and similar departments all hit at the same time. This ain’t your father’s Houston oil patch.

Just ask SWN, Civitas, Hess/Chevron, MRO/Conoco and many more how fun the last 2 years have been getting released all to the streets way too close to one another.

You’ll quickly find that who you know suddenly matters far less than it used to (and just as recently as ‘23). Better hope that dad has his own business and hasn’t retired yet because I’ve honestly seen a lot of people pivoting to such things in panic.

You are wrong on jobs in Houston. Once you are looking you will see how bad it is. Just because jobs are posted on career sites does not mean they are actually open. If you have not looked for a job recently you will be very surprised how the search for jobs has changed. Be prepared for months of searching if not a year or more. Also, be prepared for lower salaries and less benefits.

@cj the job market is strong in Houston. Not sure what market you are speaking of but everyone in my department is sitting with offers from other companies and we haven’t even learned our fate yet.

The job market su-ks ba--s right now. You’re probably facing 9-13 months till your next job. There will be a race to the bottom soon as merger mania takes place

My team is on the 12th floor in Houston. We are being told we are getting our answers tomorrow (Monday). Though part of me says, don’t hold your breathe. We have been lied to already. Let my people GOOOOO! lol 😂

@OP I wonder how we will find out in the Houston office? Will we get a letter, email or meeting? It is strange that they want to keep DO and maybe not Land!! I heard we should know Tuesday 🙄. I am so tired of hanging in the balance!!🤬🤬. Give us free!! But I am so prepared for the bull** they might throw in!!
