Thread regarding Samsung layoffs

June 30th Layoffs

12:00 pm and still no emails. Wanted to make an updated thread about the supposed mass layoffs happening today. Anyone get any correspondence today or heard any news regarding NJ offices/SEA operations in general?

Layoffs were not only in NJ, other locations along east coast and remote were impacted

The meeting for relocation benefits had 300 attendees, whereas the HR calls before had around 800 attendees. Assume 75% attendance rate, around 400 left out of 800. If true it was a bloodbath.

@bd They said that was nationally. I know of 5, possibly 6 in the Greenville office, which only had about 30 people to begin with, and many are contractors.

Check your spam folder, some notices went straight to spam and people are still finding out today

Seems like there were a lot of layoffs today, but it's hard to gauge how many since the business is so segmented (DS vs DX, and then within DX there being appliances, mobile, and TV divisions.) A reddit thread states 60% laid off from SEA, but that is hard to believe. Maybe 60% of the Sylvan Ave. office. Others in the same thread that were impacted said that the WARN notices that they received mentioned 739 were let go with 430 remaining. To my knowledge, no single biz unit within DX had 1169+ employees, so I assume that means 739 were let go from NJ out of 1169 employees.
