why won’t they just tell us how many people need to be cut??
would it be that terrible for us to know? I would have felt better knowing instead of doing mental gymnastics before choosing to apply for the VSP.

Because it's a dollar target, not a headcount target. Everything they've said about "restructuring" and "right sizing" is really about profitability. They'll cut until they hit the dollar target, then they'll restructure to fit that headcount.

@ag I think that would be kinder and less stressful to the employees.
In reality, a company could easily call someone into the office on a Friday afternoon, lay them off with an hour's notice, and just hand them a final paycheck. Things could definitely be much worse.
As someone that has been through this before at another organization. If it is in fact, 20%, you or somebody you know will be affected.
See a previous thread posted by a leader, it's going to be 20% in waves, roughly 61k are left, which means 12,000 in waves. Get ahead start applying.
