@av Tanya's email said to notify them within 24 hours of your return from PTO.

@a7 check with your state. Some states allow u to collect with a VSP and some even allow to collect while on severance as long as the final paperwork u sign releases them from being sued
What about employees on PTO who didn’t get the email or cannot get to their work laptop to change their decision? We have an app on our computers that watch us when not working if we sign on after hours or before which is beyond frustrating.
This is SLEAZY. They are trying to change the narrative, saying folks accepting VSP has nothing to do with the impending layoff. They are doing this to make folks ineligible for state unemployment benefits, as these eventually are paid by the employers. They are setting themselves up for some serious legal issues.
Protecting their end so they could say you voluntarily left after this notice so you cannot claim unemployment. Emphasized the keyword “voluntary”
@OP so called the VSP phone number and asked if the separation date is extended past Sept 1 will the amount offered change for each additional week I worked and how much? Was told it will change but not sure how much it will change. So now I am wondering if they keep you an additional 3 months, do they deduct how much I made in that 3 months from my VSP offer?
Undoubtedly, there will be much heavy drinking happening over the long weekend.
Leadersh!p really sh!t the bed on this one!
@a9 interesting perspective.
I do not believe people would sign up to financially protect themselves and their families and then go, "oh just kidding". I know some people don't read, but a lot of us read all the documentation.
I applied knowing if I'm accepted and then I see an internal position that I want, I can't go for it. I'm aware of the risk of unemployment, either now or later. I want to maintain control over what impacts my personal life if I'm given the choice. I'm choosing to leave to give myself the time and space instead of making decisions under significant stress.
@ab I’m so sick of the good stewards buzzword they love
I think it’s very suspicious that they sent that email that late in the afternoon, the day before the deadline, and right before the holiday when a lot of people are out today. Why wasn’t this communicated from the start. I’m wondering if more people signed up than they anticipated.
@a9 You mean they set aside a lot of profits from taxpayer money to pay for the consequences of their own workforce decisions.
Interesting definition of being “good stewards” of taxpayer dollars.
The mail also says -> "VSP will be notified regarding whether their application has been accepted on or about July 27". Goal post got changed from July 15 to 27. And the end date is also is tentative btw.
I think she needed to clarify it because people were putting in for vsp thinking they’ll “see what happens” if they get approved and decide to back out later. They're not understanding you can’t back out as it mentions in our letters. I doubt it’s because too many applied. They allocated alot of money for this, they have the funds to accept all who applied as long as it doesn’t interfere with organizational needs.
The email they sent out yesterday afternoon is very confusing. This is not what was said in the beginning. They are so damn shady. It's horrible how they have done this.
I think they’re trying to make sure the wording makes it seem like there’s no layoffs to be coming so they can claim it was voluntary to avoid unemployment for those who do get it.
I heard that if you take the VSP that you will get it even if it's not this round of layoffs, it will be the next.
