I confirmed with someone high up that employees who accept the VSP will be listed as “voluntary quit” and not laid off. You should check with your state unemployment department to find out if you will qualify or not. As a part of the VSP, you also may be required to sign a document saying you forfeit unemployment by accepting the severance. I’d check with an employment lawyer though.

@OP Missouri looks at it as quitting and likely will try to deny, but can appeal. I'd use that 1st email with stronger scare tactic that involuntary likely to follow if not enough apply.

@ag double check that because I know someone who lives in Missouri and get a severance from another job and was able to get unemployment.

CA will be fine. Max $450 or $405 after federal taxes for 26 weeks.

here in Florida we will be fine; $275/wk pre-tax max benefit for a maximum of 12 weeks.
