Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoff

With nearly 89,900 full-time employees, why do the layoffs keep continuing—July 16, August 20, September 17...?

At this rate, it seems like this telecom company will eventually run without employees. Only the CEO and AI will be left to run the company and keep the customers happy. 😊

Verizon has too many layers. I think they should have gotten rid of VPs and Directors first. They just create unnecessary work

We should not overlook the significance of the upcoming 50/50 Verizon–BT joint venture. Verizon's current actions appear aimed at streamlining operations and reducing potential governance and decision-making bottlenecks before the new ownership structure takes effect in 2027. With decision authority expected to become more evenly shared, establishing a clean and efficient operating model now is critical. These efforts reflect a broader initiative to strengthen the business and position the partnership for long-term success. (My iwn thought rewritten by AI). 😁

That’s Dan’s plan…he only needs a guy named Claude to run Verizon.

Middle managers who do nothing all day should be cut immediately.

@OP In a word - Money.

Money needed for AI
Money needed to counter the drop in revenue due to fewer price ups and higher prices.

Then you have the bloated groups in GTS, VZI, Finance, etc.. with AI, you don't need as many people.
