I'm at my breaking point. We're constantly losing people, never getting replacements, and the work just keeps coming. It's starting to feel hopeless that things are ever going to improve.

I recently started at Oracle as the pay/benefits etc was decent. What was not decent is the lack of support getting my system set up, being given any kind of guidance on how to use some of the proprietary systems. What kind of Fortune 500 company treats its new joiners this way? I'd be embarrassed if I were responsible for IT at Oracle....
But as its always easier to find another job when you have one, guess I'm gonna start looking elsewhere. Sad...
@nt In the US, Oracle severance nets you about 4.5 days worth of pay per year of service. You'll be majorly disappointed waiting for it.
@k5 Fingers crossed. I'd rather take the severence payoff than jump without it.
Until then, keep collecting the paycheck and work the hours you get paid for.
Any additional work caused by headcount reduction and no replacements, simply isn't my fault or concern.
Don't worry, I sure the next mass layoff will fix everything.
@je that is the perfect advice, actually. That's exactly right, they let people go, things go humming along as usual, they'll be happy with the thought that they are making the right decisions. Sh-t's going to have to start falling apart before they step back and rethink what they're doing - if they can, with LE's infatuation with OpenAI and all.
@OP don't ki-l yourself to make up for what management is doing, it's not worth it. Do your job, collect your paycheck and SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN (you'll thank yourself later).
Question for anyone here who is still there. Does O give a rat's ru-p about customer satisfaction any more? Any insights into what the current numbers are? Inquiring minds are dying to know.
You can only do what you can do. If you sacrifice yourself, your health, and your well being to go above, beyond, and do more, then you’re suppressing the feedback that upper management should be seeing. Management needs to know that their decisions are causing problems. If either you work so hard to avoid the problems or otherwise hide them, then you’ve broken the feedback loop. If the feedback loop is broken, then management cannot make informed decisions. Problems caused by management decisions need to be seen and felt. If you do not obscure the problems, either management can see and deal with them or ignore them. If problems are ignored, that’s probably mismanagement and fault resides with them.
Been there. I concluded this: Do not ever make your career your life. Nobody anywhere in the corporate world cares about you or your abilities. Your job exists for providing statistics for retail stockholders.
Larry doesn't have any successors with a vision for Oracle. His own vision is to follow others with cheaper solutions with the help of marketing and lawyers. He mocked "Cloud" in 2009. He's gonna let it run on auto-pilot to milk it while it lasts. EVPs know this. He bought his family other businesses that they could handle, with the bonus ability to control information.
You could go back in this forum’s history five or ten years and you’ll see the same lament. Everyone has their own personal straw that breaks the camels back. They do this cr-p because things don’t break because people generally want to keep their work reputation and will work to that point.

I'll add to that - watch for job postings filter it for those opened within the last 24 hours. You want to get that application in in the firsts hours of it's posting - and I mean LITERALLY first hours - otherwise it won't be seen. I did that with this last one three hours after it was posted got an immediate email from the recruiter to set up a screening call. He was smart enough too to take the posting down pretty much immediately after I applied (he's pacing the applicants, they get BURIED).
Went on to talk to the hiring team and was told that they had 700 applicants. After three hours of the posting. So keep checking and get that application in asap, you'll have a better chance of your resume even being seen.

The advice is to jump the ship and look for opportunities outside.
It is indeed easier said than done.
See it this way: use the time & paycheck from Oracle to find better job. Opportunities are out there!
High performers have checked out and those in office presentism is on display. Hard to be motivated with no promotions, raises and threat of axe falling at any moment. Advice is look for opportunities outside - easy to say, I understand it is a difficult market.
It’s not going to get better and you’re not the only one who knows it. That’s why Oracle is bleeding talented people who are going to other companies and making them successful instead. Clay is driving the ship into the iceberg.

It's Oracle, it will not improve. The culture of the organisation fundamentally does not give on sh1t about its people. From direct experience I can confirm that this organisation is the embodiment of its leader - Larry does not care about anyone but Larry.
@OP what do you think is Oracle’s trajectory?
$200 billion in loans, negative cash flow, stock price free falling, layoffs, literally encouraging the best to move onto more stable environments, internal development support only, not community project development support.
There is no improvement in the foreseeable future.
