Recent Changes to PADP/MLRP

Does management genuinely believe the recent PADP/MLPR changes are the best way for EM to meet its goals? If the real aim is headcount reduction, there are far less damaging approaches that don’t undermine morale. Does EM HR, the MC or board truly see these changes as strengthening the company, given the risks they introduce?

@ex I can vouch for this! We had a supervisor who was incompetent, and it was an open secret - but he skated by for years for this very reason! It wasn't until we had a manager stay in the role above him for more than a year that he was identified as incompetent and let go. Within the same group, the prevailing wisdom of long timers, which astonished me as a new experienced hire, was that we never needed to do anything this supervisor's manager said, as they would be out the door soon enough. We went through 9 different managers in my first 5 years with the company. Seriously flawed system.

An alternative view is that managers and hr/legal aren’t strong enough to fire people who shouldn’t be here. And we move people so quickly that a poor performing individual could just be ‘hot potatoed’ around for years and years. This was 2000-2018. So they systematized it. The problem is that the pendulum has swung too far.

I would argue that if you kept people in their roles for 5+ years, the supervisors are suddenly incentivized to deal with their own team’s performance problems. They either have to help the person develop or they need to let them go. If you are moving supervisors every 1-2 years, nothing is ever really their problem and they have no incentive to really build a strong team.

All they care about is the criteria they need to meet to maximize their own bonus

Decreasing morale is part of the effect, it will encourage some small number of HC10 employees to leave on their own.

To get to SVP and above, one has to be a sociopath. They cannot care about people and the impact of their decisions or they won’t be able to do their jobs. The higher the position, the bigger the sociopath.

DW despises HC10 employees on a deep, personal level. Like truly, truly hates each and every one of us.

@OP yes headcount reduction is the goal. Why would they care about morale? we are all replaceable, and if you don’t like it you’re free to leave. EM is run by some horrible fu--s, who deserve a special place in he-l

Bless your heart. They don't care about morale. Cost items on a spreadsheet do not have morale, and that's how they view us all.

I would say they feel this is the best path forward since we are still doing it.

We make dollars not sense.
