Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

What's going on with MBP?

Curious to know what's going on with MBP (Modern Banking Platform)? It seems like it got hit with layoffs recently. I've heard rumors about it struggling lately to gain traction as a proven core solution.

@a3 that's the problem. It was a golden child, with big investment and hiring pouring in and no questions. So the goal wasn't a new modern system, the goal became empire building

@ef if it can be done cheaper and faster with no consideration to quality and stability, FIS will do it every time. They want to appear to fulfill a contract with no thought to actual usability. They should all be locked in a bunker and forced to use their products while meeting SLAs and handling client complaints. Make their bonuses contingent on meeting KPIs. It isn't a real problem until it's THEIR problem.

MBP has been facing significant challenges, with declining revenue and a strong focus on cost reduction, including headcount reductions.

From my experience, the main concerns appear to be related to product stability, quality issues, and a high number of defects. Testing processes and quality practices did not seem to be at the expected level, which impacted the overall product reliability.

There also appeared to be gaps in development and delivery processes, with decisions sometimes being made without sufficient technical validation. This created additional challenges for teams working to maintain product quality.

I have heard discussions about possible strategic changes involving MBP, including potential acquisition or restructuring, although I cannot confirm the accuracy of these discussions.

By modern, do they mean something newer than most of their systems from the Cretaceous Period?

SF said they’ve spent 500M on MBP and only 6 clients are onboarded

It is dying a slow death. OpenCoreOS, headed by some McKinsey execs, was the core system FIS was pushing hard at Emerald.

MBP is all fluff and no content, headed by a few extraordinarily self-regarding individuals.

A few years ago I was told "Use MBP". I looked and it was like "Use WHAT exactlt?"

@OP @OP It's a rushed pos. The key accounts talk to each other, so they all know its a pos. I know I raised many issues when it was first introduced and that entire list was ignored. They still haven't completely fixed those issues.

We just chillin.
But on a serious note we’ve signed some clients this year. Lost one client (not our fault, the banks leadership has weak hands) and I wouldn’t be surprised if our client roaster changed more towards EOY in either direction.
The product has been used as a get rich quick scheme by middle management for years with the buddy buddy hiring into high paying roles. Now SF and gang want to know what it’s cost so much to develop with so little return.
